The tele adapter is called " ESCOT SER VI " Think it is a 1.5 but nothing marked on it to say. One of those
junk box finds, usually I remove the glass and use them as lens hoods.
Glad I kept this one alive.

Found at a flea market for $5., like new including the leather case. Nice on it's own and very sharp from 4.5 but when I added
an old Aux tele lens on the front that is what happens to the background. Only with
this particular lens, tried with a lot of others but no luck.

Regardless of the material, they are both screwed into plastic mounts on the lens. Unless you really
do a lot of lens changes it will take a long time to wear out the plastic mount.

My old K200 is just as sharp, the only difference is the size. The sensor has no bearing on the pic quality, the lens is the
qualifier providing the focus is the same.

KX , one of the best Sony sensors, 12mp more than enough and the metering with old lenses is excellent.
Anything more is just icing on the cake.

You don't have to change any settings, it is fine to leave the "use aperture ring" setting on.

Depends on the light there is no set rule for noise vs iso, in bright sun 4000 is very clean but
in low light can be noisy.
The old rules no longer apply the same way with digital, even F stops should be eliminated and replaced with another
more appropriate measure such as field depth as used in video.
Eg. a linear aperture lens with an EVF showing real time is using the sensors capability without crippling it by setting
artificial Stops.
The limits are not defined by the sensor size but by the decision of the photographer.
PS Best to not read too many reviews or data this is Art not tech...

I have stopped using the Adaptalls adapter on my cameras because of that especially the PK/A ones, had one jam completly the cam motor
and had to take it apart to remove it from the camera.
Some design problem with the Pentax adapter as the nikon ones are very smooth and much easier to move the lever the original ones feel
quite rough.
Have one Ebay knockoff that I use as it does not have any aperture lever so Stop down is a must.

I have a G3, very good for video and the focus aids make it easy to use any manual lens, use with a sigma 120-400.
No complaints of build quality here, all aluminum and swivel screen, EVF is very useable as well. Always
keep the body with a Sigma 19mm in the bag, if something interesting shows up I just put it on the big lens for video.
Get the adapter with aperture control ring on it.

So instead of a 1.5 crop it would be just a 1, then the larger sensor would actually be smaller unless
of course the pixels would increase by .5 then everything would be the same.........UNTIL a 1.4 multiplier was
installed between the lens .
That would negate the previous multiplier ?????.......
I think I will keep using my Q ;( and save the money for therapy.

Same here, just seems that is how they are. Leave mine at -7 ev.
What I did find after many hours of tedious testing is the metering area is quite small not a lot more
Than center weighted. Try using live view and panning around check the exposure readings and screen. So
If you change the position to fall on to a dark or light item it puts it off.
I also found on Nikon forums the D7000 has the same sensor and same exposure problem, could be related.
Never got any help here except the User Error Excuse but having other cameras that do not have this problem
It seems to be a limitation of the hardware or programming.

Some of the old lenses are quite difficult to open because the threads are locked with a lacquer, lacquer thinner
around where the threads are usually does it. Just a VERY small amount using a thin paint brush spreads around
the lens. Wait a few seconds and try it.

When you replaced the lens ass from the front did you line up the aperture control link into the long brass arm with the slot ?
If you did it is not right, it fits into a small slotted arm near the bottom of the lens body.

Get Darktable 1.6, will do all you need and more and no Monthly payments !
Using Suse 13.1 now, have used linux for many years it's a shame that through bad PR by unnamed large
Corporations has affected its user base.
Very mature now and can meet and beat the others.

There is a much simpler method that works with any camera, You usually get what you see in the viewfinder !
I use lenses by purpose and don't think about the numbers anymore.
