I don't feel like I'm losing anything when I take the 16-45 off for the 28-200. Actually since I picked up the 28-200 up that is the one that stays on the camera, and I only go to the 16-45 when I need to go wider than 28. And the 100-300 is just as sharp but I don't carry that all the time. I pretty much use that when I need to go longer than 200 and again, i don't feel like I lose anything (except maybe a bit of a tendency to flare with the 100-300). These three lenses cover all the range I need, and in order to get any sharper I would have to move up into more expensive lenses for sure.

I am selling off my Pentax gear consisting of the following:
Pentax K-x with 18-55 kit lens - $340 (with original box)
- I have not pulled the shutter count but it's going to be in the 15-20k range. I learned on this camera and took a LOT of pictures last year. Also, the bottom cover piece had a chip out of one corner and has been replaced. That is why the cost is so reasonable. The camera functions flawlessly though. It's been dragged on several hikes in Colorado but has been well cared for and kept in a M-Rock bag when not out for a shot. Expect a little wear, but the camera is solid. Sold as-is. The camera does have magnifying eyecup O-ME53 on it, which I will leave on the camera as the original eyecup has been misplaced. It's a nice upgrade.
Pentax DA-L 16-45 f4 lens (original front & rear caps and lens hood included)- $275 (with original box)
Tamron AF 28-200mm F/3.8-5.6 XR Di Aspherical [IF] (front cap is promaster, lens hood included)- $100 -- This lens in particular is so underrated it isn't funny. Takes sharp, gorgeous photos.
SMC Pentax-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8 (front & rear caps)- $150 (with original box)
All of the lenses are in great shape with minimal wear on the outside and no signs of fungus. The flash is in great condition, and the camera is explained along with the price.
Shipping is not included in prices and will be determined depending on what's being purchased and where it is shipping to, but will generally be the cost of shipping plus a couple of bucks for handling unless anything unusual comes up.
I can get pictures if needed.
Adding some more lenses:
Prospec multicoated 1:2.8 f=28mm lens - I think this is a rebranded Vivitar 28mm, but I'm not 100% sure which one. Decent prime though. - $30
SMC Pentax-a 1:2 50mm - $30
Sigma 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 II Macro - $50
Willing to sell all for $850 if anyone is interested.
(The AF360FGZ flash has been sold, I can't revise the subject. I deleted it out for simplicity.)

I'm not purely a megapixel nut. I'm stating for the money, for new technology, for bang for my buck, this product really looks like it's lacking for what you get. Did you read anything else I said or just stop when you saw "12.4 megapixels"?? As I said, I shoot with a K-x and am 100% happy with 12.4.

$800 for a camera with a CMOS sensor and a prime lens, and another $300 for a 28-80 lens? Sorry but I could get a LOT more for $1100. This seems like a nice niche item and something I might like to have, but I could make that money go a LOT further with a new lens and body in the DSLR realm. Nevermind that getting into this system might mean two or three years before you see more lenses and options for it.
p.s. Did anyone saying this is worth the money notice that it's only 12.4 megapixels? (Don't get me wrong, I still shoot with my K-x, but for the MONEY and what's out there today, is it worth it?)

Yeah, that black hill is at least a quarter mile away in nine inches of snow. It goes down and then comes back up to that point. To be honest, I cropped it a little bit from the original exposure. If I wasn't running to catch the sunset after work to begin with, I would have strapped on the snowshoes and had a little more range. As it was I was breaking the snow and had trudged about as far as I wanted to, to the crest of the first ridge past the trailhead. If only I could win the lottery and take pics all day every day. lol
Thanks for the feedback though. I'll maybe play with some selective brightening next.

Please pick this one apart. Main reason - I FINALLY sat down with a couple of Lightroom Tutorials and rather than just dragging around the sliders until it "looked right", put total conscious effort into watching the histogram, picking the right slider for what I was looking for, etc. I think it's a much better image... But feel free to let me have it.

I like them all except the first. It's not the bokeh in the first for me, it's the amount of out of focus space, and the semi-recognizable leaves going diagonally at the top left, pulling me away from the sharp part of the image.
I think if you cropped a bit out of it, it would work though.
The last one is my favorite.

Lyons Overlook at Roxborough State Park on a snowy day. I went for a "mocha" preset and think it worked really well for the image. Let me know what you think.

Wish I knew what to tell you as far as thinking there's "something wrong". I'm still learning the post-processing nuances myself. I personally don't see anything wrong with it except for what looks "right" to me when I edit something. And yeah, it's easy to over-recover. Been learning that with some of my latest pics.

#4 looks a lot better revised to my eye. #2 and #3 I think you lost too much in the sky, especially in number 2. I'm no expert and I realize a lot of times with editting there is a tradeoff in what works and what ends up with the best balance. It's interesting to see because I'm dealing with some of the same issues with my photos as I try to improve. What program are you using?

#1 - I like the photo a lot, but I find the trees above the railing a little bit out of place. I personally would have moved the camera up a little more to show a little more of them, hopefully giving a better idea of what's beyond the railing. The color in the sky is great though.
#2 - I'm a big fan of HDR and this is a very well composed image. I think this one needs a little noise reduction in the sky, or possibly a little more saturation.
#3 - My favorite of the four images, but I think that bringing exposure up a little bit would remove a little bit of the gray from the shadows in the snow. It also has a little bit of a blue cast to it, which may or may not be intended.
#4 - I like the balance of the shadows much better in this one, it's a little more blue but much less gray.
#5- Very good overall, but again the shadows make the gray in the snow a little to prominent for me. Snow generally requires an image to underexpose unless compensated for.

Really like the composition and the way the light is playing, but I think I personally would have done a little more highlight recovery on the cliff face, to bring a little more detail up hopefully.

I was playing around seeing how slow I could get away with shutter speed while hand-holding the camera, basically trying some different holding techniques, and was surprised to get really sharp shots like this down at 1/5 second. What I didn't think about was the motion from his throat moving as he breathes, but overall I think the bit of blur there is a good effect to bring him to life a little bit.

Winter in Colorado... 67 degrees today when I took this today, in late January. :)
It's a 5 exposure HDR, processed in Photomatix and Lightroom. Let 'er rip. :)

Yeah I hear you on green mode. I was only thinking two things though "HURRY!" and "BE STEADY!". Reality is I probably did have a couple of seconds to switch to another mode and would have been even happier with the result.

Ok, so this one is pretty heavily processed in Lightroom and Topaz Adjust, but I really like the outcome. Honest feedback welcome. :) Denver Sunset by wffwii, on Flickr

Paul, go to Micro Center and get the SD cards at checkout. Usually about half the price of ones you will find anywhere else and they are Class 4. I think I picked up 2 4 GB cards for $5.99 or $6.99 each. I've never had one of any brand fail on me, and figure most of them probably get manufactured at the same spot. I use 4GB cards because I can fit the contents of one onto a DVD-R.

Personally, I like the one with the blue sky the best even if it is a little unnatural. This thread is interesting though, since I run into the same challenges in my post-processing.

This is one of those lucky shots where I was in the right place at the right time. I was sitting behind this snowdrift playing with composing it against the mountains behind when the bird showed up and landed right in front of me. He was there for about 5 seconds before he noticed me and took off. I really like the impact of the picture and just wish his head was a little clearer... At the same time I don't completely dislike the fact that it conveys a little motion out of him. Any feedback is appreciated, or I wouldn't post it here. Surprise! by wffwii, on Flickr
