Is there any place where I can get information on Pentax lens caps by series? I'm curious to find out if my lenses Taks, K, M, A. F, and FA series lenses have their original caps. Thanks in advance for any help!

It looks like the K-1 will give us quite usable high iso images up to 3200. I'm speaking as a very picky person who never shoots over iso 800 with my aps-c camera.
One thing not frequently discussed: Although it looks like the K-1 will give you much better high iso performance than it's aps-c predecessors, you are going to have to stop most lenses down more to deal with the higher resolution. This can effectively cancel the advantage. It depends on the lens and your own critical standards.
I agree about the high iso scam and would never use 12000 or over, unless I was employed as an investigative reporter shooting a difficult subject at night, and that's pretty unlikely!

The game is to convince you you to spend more more money on something you may or may not really need. Many of my favorite lenses are just not up to snuff on FF. I'm sure the new Pentax FF is spectacular and worth the investment for many, but it could very well turn out to be just another money-pit lenswise. I have a wife who needs things so I'm not going there.
PS. The K series 55mm f1.8 you sold me is still my absolute favorite. You said I would like it and boy, you were right!

Yet another incredibly stupid idiot. No doubt some equally foolish new K1 owners will see this, try a similar experiment, and not be so lucky.
Everybody knows weather resistant does not mean weather proof.

I am sick and tired of the constant unwarranted criticism that the M series 50mm f2 lens is getting here. This lens is not a "dud". It is recommended by 94% of reviewers on this very forum. It's true that it is not as sharp as the 1.7 wide open but that doesn't make it a "dud". What BS! Give DPreview a break and and stop slagging your own brand to make a specious point..

Most photo forums have mega-posters who are self-appointed photography experts. They tend to have a posse of friends who agree with their particular opinions. They are generally alpha-dogs who don't like to be disagreed with and they will try to run you off their perceived territory if you challenge or offend them. Internet forums are strange social environments full of lonely isolated people. For some of them it is their only real social outlet. Pentax Forums is their tribe.
Personally I'd rather meet girls and take pictures!

I know what you mean. I think the articulating screen is way over-complicated. Still I can remember a couple of times where I would have found it useful. Backed up against a wall with the camera on a tripod for one. I have durability questions about the articulating screen which can't possibly be answered right now but I am extremely skeptical. Please note: Skeptical types are accused of wetting their pants around here. That is the unfortunate level of discourse on this forum. In fact it's the norm.

+1 Good God Ricoh, we should have at least seen some hard specs by now.

I have a different opinion. I think the original prototype is beautiful. It's quite sleek and futuristic looking for it's day! I would have bought one then. Think about how much Pentax FF would have evolved over the years had it gotten off the ground. I'm glad people remember this significant moment in Pentax history.
The new K1 looks quite good, but it's got to make it to the store shelves before I will believe it really exists.

Yeah, OLD. really old, and I'm 59 so don't rag me for it. Pentax: for the enlightened young but mostly for old farts. There should be a Ricoh walker with a Pentax camera attached! YouI'll need one eventually.

Look, I know that nobody on this forum shares my extremely pessimistic opinion but I really don't think that there will ever be a Pentax Full Frame. I just refuse to believe it will ever happen. I don't believe one word of what Asahi man, Monochrome, or Ricoh have to say. I'm not impressed by crappy mockups of the camera or dark shadowy teaser ads announcing the camera like a Batman film. Pentax FF is like the Loch Ness monster or extraterrestrials to me. I'm going to have to actually see the Pentax FF with my own eyes and watch it power up before I will ever believe it's real. Just like your going to have to show me the actual Loch Ness monster before I ever believe it exists. Only then will I be properly astonished and impressed.

Congratulations on your new camera. Make sure your firmware is updated. I bought a used one that had the first version firmware. It became a much better camera once updated.

Thanks guys for the info. Clearly I've been laboring under some misapprehensions about shake reduction, attributing super powers to my camera that it doesn't entirely have. Ricoh/Pentax have told us that they are continually trying to improve shake reduction though. I wish I had more specifics about that.

So with all 50mm AF Pentax lenses, irregardless of the length of the lens extension, the camera has the data to properly calculate shake reduction? Or does it just apply a 50mm one-size-fits-all caculation for all 50mm AF lenses? I mean the FA 50mm 1.4 is very different from the FA 50mm 2.8 which is a much bigger lens that extends quite a bit for macro. Please feel free to explain the physics of this to me if anyone can.
I guess my question has to do with how specific the shake reduction algorithms are to each lens, if that's the right way to put it. I thought I saw a list once of the exact Pentax lenses Pentax DSLRs recognize. Maybe I'm mistaken.

Is there a comprehensive list somewhere of shake reduction recognized lenses for K-5,K-5IIs? I'm interested in F and FA AF lenses mostly, the FA 50mm f2.8 macro in particular. Thanks...

You are dead right about edge and corner performance being the "big unknown" when transitioning from a crop camera to FF. I suspect that there will be more than a few people who discover that their favorite lens is not so good across the frame.
As for looking at lens reviews... We have a great review database here, but some of it is very flawed. For example, look at reviews for the Pentax F 28-80. 80% of the reviews on that page are not even for the lens pictured, but for vastly inferior uncoated kit lens version. That page is a joke and should be fixed! There are many 3rd party lenses with deceptive reviews. How can you really judge the quality of a lens with just one copy? Reviews can be very helpful but I endorse the find-out-for-yourself school of thought.
