Got my first Pentax! A K-5iis!

Hi everyone, I've always admired this forum and the enthusiasm that Pentaxians have for their cameras and lenses. The Canon and Nikon DSLR's never really appealed to me, and although I know you can take amazing photos with any camera, Pentax was the one that resonated deeply. The solidity, the toughness, the way it felt in my hand, the small metal primes, it just felt right. So recently I purchased a used K-5iis! The camera only had 400 shutter actuations and was in mint condition. The man who sold it to me was really cool and included a Super Takumar 50 1.4, as well as the 18-55 kit lens. I took it to my local camera shop to see what k-mount lenses they had and they ended up showing me a Voigtlander Ultron 40mm F2, which was brand new. I took a few shots with it and loved it so much that I bought it! I'm thoroughly happy with the camera and the two primes, Pentax is everything I thought it would be and more. Thank you to the people who run this forum and all who participate in it - it's a positive and uplifting environment. Here are a couple shots I've taken so far.

What I said.....there is some loss in every system change. I can relate to not wanting to give up the DA*50-135, it is a superb lens, even if the SDM is often an expensive problem. It is a perfect range for a broad array of shooting and has near prime quality throughout the range.
Whatever I may buy, Pentax will be a big part of my system. Like the 50-135, I will never give up my Bigma 50-500, and it is a joy to use on my K5...probably even better on the K3?
Laid up here, I can only shoot through my windows, and there is nothing that Fuji has to allow me to do what I can do with the K5 and Bigma in this circumstance. It makes me realize just how versatile the Pentax is. There are lenses for most everything, and for an amateur like me, more than adequate in selection.

Maybe you have noticed, I shoot some squirrels every so often:lol:......the Pentax/Bigma fill my needs, so although I might add a Fuji and a couple of their lenses, I will be staying with Pentax too.

Through my office windows....1/100 (Love the in body Pentax SR!) f6.7 ISO 5000 @ 500mm handheld, cropped about 50% of the original. Not perfect, but plenty good for an old squirrel shooter! :D

Went out in the gray day looking for bluebonnets. Took a variety of shots, but I like this one the best. I'll say that I'm most impressed by the DA40XS lens. Very sharp! I may still sell it as I have the DA40 Ltd, but it's very nice.

I'm surprised at all the negativity in some these responses. First of all, Sony's recently added a number of small, budget-priced prime lenses that seem to provide pretty good performance. Go look up their selection and pricing yourself; yes, they have some pretty expensive lenses, but so does Pentax. :-P Knowing how something "seems" isn't nearly as useful as knowing how something is.

Guy bought a camera, and it turns out he likes it. Not surprising, as it's got that same fantastic sensor as the K-5 (and yes, would do better in low light than a K-r). Then he wanted to tell someone about it (it's a common urge) so he turned to the community he's been with up until now.

All of this makes sense to me.

I guess I just don't understand the responses that range from snarky to outright hostile whenever someone posts that they've discovered that they like something that's *not* a Pentax. I mean, sure, this is PENTAXforums, and all, but come on.
