I don't doubt the K-1 has a much better sensor than the a7II. I've heard it referred to as a mediam format killer. I was just replying to normhead's confusion as to why anyone would buy a 24 MP full frame.

That's exactly why. In my experience, for proper noise to resolution ratio, 24 is the sweet spot for full frame whereas 16 is the sweet spot for aps-c. You may disagree, but that's exactly where I like it.

I recently switched to Sony. I wanted to move to full frame but Pentax's offerings weren't in my budget. The Sony a7II is half the price of the K-1 and it still allows me to use my Pentax lenses. Honestly, the image quality blows me away and I couldn't be happier.
Edit: And to add to this, I upgraded my wife from my old Pentax K-x to the Canon T6 (1300D outside US) when it recently went on sale. She wasn't invested in Pentax lenses like I am, and Canon has many offerings for dirt cheap. Build quality isn't great compared to Pentax, but she is very happy with the image quality.

I’m a street shooter and my favorite Pentax primes are the DA 21 and FA 43. Together they offer great fields of view on a crop sensor.

Just to clarify. Is it a 4/3 system or m4/3 system?

Does a FA 43mm f1.9 with a broken screw drive pin count as a manual lens? Because that would be mine.

Welp. Will not turn on at all now. I guess it's time to move on. Maybe upgrade to the K-3II while it's cheap.

Really??? Interesting. Does that mean reset all menu settings to default? What firmware was it?

I haven't actually. I'll get a new battery and give that a try.
That's really weird. But it's good to know an older model is still kicking.

Hello!
So I have a K-5II which seems to be randomly freezing on start up. The top display will turn on and the lens will focus, but the shutter won't fire and the rear screen won't turn on. The mirror won't even flip. Just no response. But the top screen is still showing exposure and I can adjust it with the dials. This doesn't happen on every start up and I haven't found a pattern. I have tested this with multiple lenses, too.
The only solution I have found is pulling out and reinserting the battery while it's still on.
Anyone else experience this? Any more permanent solutions?
Thanks!

From what I understand, DSLRs usually meter differently because metering is measured off the mirror. When in live view, the camera has to meter off the sensor which requires calibration and is not always perfect. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I just started playing with my K-50 again after not using it for over a year and I'm noticing the same issue. It seems to be metering correctly, just not exposing the images enough. It does appear to be an aperture issue as it wants to completely stop down the lens for some reason.
Here are some images:
This first one is taken with my Fujifilm X100
F4 1/30 ISO200
And this is with the K-50 at the same exposure
F4 1/30 ISO200
Trying again while looking at the lens, I see it stop down completely.

I'd be really afraid that super glue might fog up the prism.

Did you experiment with the shims? That's the only thing I can think of, but I'm no expert. Hopefully someone else can help better.

If you don't mind taking the time for manual white balance, I can very fond of the in-camera Reversal Film mode.

Yeah. I suppose that is weakness of the APS-C format. Assuming it's a modern full frame DSLR, the K-3 can be two or three stops worse in its noise performance. But noise reduction software has really advanced in the past couple years.

Now if only I could afford Photoshop. I have Pixelmator. Do you know if that has a similar feature?

Yeah. I am not sure what happened here. I held it level and flat when I took the photo, the ground is level, and I corrected distortion in post, but I still have this funky perspective warping.
