I am submitting this image for critique/help. I shot this intending to capture the textures of the grass playing off the bare limbs. I am interested in your feedback of the overall image. Where I need help is in the sky- to me it is lifeless and blown out. I understand that a ND grad filter would have helped prevent this, but as of now what fixes are out there for me. Any information is welcomed, thank you in advance.

Thanks Ash, I agree on everything you said. The foreground I cropped to hide an uncitely work van. I guess when it comes to these types of images, I had better plan more. I find myself seeing something and shooting. Posting on here and reading the feedback has gotten me to slow down and think before pushing the button. Less is more I guess. And yes f4 on a 4.5 lens is only by the magic of typo. Should have been f4.5, Thanks for catching that ;)

Pentaxians let me know what you think of this shot! Took it yesterday from the front yard, I'm using an old focus zoom lens manually. I lowered it 1/3 stop to shadow the trees and bring out the darker red in the sky. Any hints/tips to capture a similar shot in the future? If I had more time I wish I could have tried HDR...
Thanks,
Ryan

Took these last July 4th, enhanced shadow detail in adobe lightroom- I shot handheld!! Unfortunately left my tripod home this night : ( These are a few that came out worthy of posting for critique. Take a look and let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi folks,
Took this the other day, my goal was to experiment with the outdoor fill flash for portraits. Any tips and comments are much appreciated!

I'll try the big print! Moving into a new place in March, there is a perfect wall for it! Will let you know how it goes : )

Here is a photo I took a while ago, just playing around with angles and B&W. I uploaded the second image into fotosketcher- any one use this? It's quite fun to mess around with the various drawing and art parameters. This is the pencil sketch 2. Any feedback on either photo would be much appreciated.
Happy Shooting,
Ryan

Icywarm, metallic huh? Interesting! I wouldn't even know where to begin with how big to print it, any suggestions?

I am going through a bunch of photos lately on my days off from work. I love this site for the great feedback I've gotten on other pictures. This is a picture of our daughter, it was February and overcast- the original was color and I rendered in B&W.
Thanks

No, the vintaging effect wasn't added. This shot is not really post processed at all, really just wanted to get a gritty effect of falling snow with the high ISO. I did add a border or vignette. I'm curious just how this would turn out as a print.....

It was hand held, I have a tripod but I hardly use it. Mainly because I generally don't plan shots, which probably is my downfall but I like the sporadic nature of seeing and shooting.

Hey folks,
Here is another pic I hope to get some feedback on. I found this icicle hanging off the wire fence, thought it has some interesting qualities.
Happy shooting!

Hamilton, yes it's the DA kit lens. Looking to upgrade to a prime soon... but for the dollar value on this lens it really is pretty versatile for a beginner like myself.

The barn actually is part of a very cool little winery, as we walked in I took the shot. I was being pulled by the wife and the dog :)

Here are a couple of more photos I took the other day. This time I took some fishing lure attractant oil and added that to a glass with water, also I tweaked it in lightroom!
