Good advice, thanks. ---------- Post added 11-04-23 at 05:28 AM ----------
I think you're both right. I'm planning to do some practice today and Sunday. The shoot is on Monday.

Thanks, I suspected as much. As with most things, the simpler one can keep it, the better. Take care

I've just purchased some Flashpoint gear to do some senior pictures with my KP. It seems to be working as advertised, but I have a question. Is there a recommended setting or does it matter what setting one used on the back of the camera when using a trigger on the hot shoe? For example, do i set it to Manual Flash Discharge or Wireless controller, or Flash On? I can't tell a difference, but I could be missing a lot since it's new to me. Thanks in advance for your help.

I use the eye-fi card and have it set up two ways. (I'm using a K7, but that doesn't matter) For one set up, I am shooting RAW+JPG, with the JPG at its smallest. I use the small JPG to keep the transfers as fast as possible. The JPG is automatically transferred to my Nexxus tablet so I can see my photo on a 10 inch screen while I'm shooting. Takes just seconds. There is a free app that will allow you to transfer to your phone too. What's happening is the wifi card sets up it's own ad hoc network. If you're at home, near your wireless network, it will use that for faster transfer. This is really useful for composition when shooting in the field.
The other set up is on my home pc, where the photos transfer wirelessly into a folder that Lightroom monitors. Then LIghtroom automatically displays the latest shot (RAW) on my monitor. The EyeFi card comes with software that will transfer and display, but I like the instant editing in LR and that's where I'm going with the photo anyway. The software installation can be a little balky, I ended up chatting online with their tech folks (who were very helpful) to get it set up.
Other software is more elegant, but this is a cheap and doable workflow for hobbyists like me.

I'm on a very tight budget, and shooting is just a hobby. I picked up a set of radio triggers from Cowboy Studios really cheap and they work great. Yes It's just a trigger, but I'm shooting manual flash settings, mainly portraits, so I don't need the $200+ controls. Give them a try, it's a cheap bet.

I dropped my camera last night and seem to have broken my FAJ 75-300 lens. It won't zoom completely when turning the lens as normal. I can pull the zoom out manually however and it still autofocuses ok. Any suggestions on repair?
