If I still had more than a couple of m42 lenses I probably would have ordered this it almost dragged me back. I am still on the fence about sending my gfx50r to have a true monochrome conversion done

---------- Post added 23rd Aug 2023 at 17:34 ----------

It is more than a stop of light it is also sharper since all pixels are used equally . It has always been the arguement for pure monochrome ( the filter thing is a pain I agree but I did it for the first 38 years I shot )

Earlier I posted I had a 2013 Mini Cooper that I mostly loved. Well in december it got written off , got the money in january the worst time to have to car shoip in decades , no deals inflated pricing limited stock. I ended up with a 202 hyundai Kona Ultimate . been dricing it dor just under 4000 km now and havve to say I like a lot about it. the adaptive cruise control and lane assist have been great at me maximising my mileage , still not as good as i had the mini but the engine and car are bigger so... it seems luxuriously large after 9 years in a mini , and my wife no longer complains about the comfort . I will take a long trip (to winnipeg and back ) in the month of september probably will put 5-6000 km on that month so that will be the real test .
I was looking to get a subaru crosstrek they were backordered for 8 months and used ones with low (sub 40k km) miles were selling above retail, Mini I looked for the one I love, it has been discontinued (the cooper clubman) used decent ones were going for more than the kona i bought with higher miles) Unfortunate time to buy but I am happy so far (I owned a Hyundai back in the 90s and it was reliable and servie was good. the dealership is different and i can tell they are going to be useless (already trying to find ways tpo sell me brakes even though they did end to end full service in january and they were good - wanted to charge to rotate my tires too lol. I had them installed elswhere where they are stored they were rotated 6 weeks ago when i swapped winter for summer. Dealerships i see are as ridiculous as they were when i got the mini and the mercedes before that . I have a good mechanic though so they see little that doesn't involve warranty items

If you lost all your camera gear in a fire ...

I have had camera losses several times on break ins. way back i went from Canon fd system back to pentax with the mz5 and a small kit. next loss bought some extra equipment because i carry replacement cost and to replace say a 50mm f1.4 tak you need a 50mm 1.4 af lens/.....
last time i lost a lot of manual focus gear and most of my digital bodies ... that funded my move to fuji at the time , a move i do not regret. I have however pondered a k1 with the limited trio as an addition to my kit. The one thing i wish they stole at the time was my bronica film gear, that would have funded a nice 645z system at the time unfortunately i interupted them and they left that bag on the floor as they booted out the back
If I lost all i had now I probably would get very targeted items based on what i have been shooting, i would invest more in MF and less in my x system and maybe get that k1 ltd setup

It as a shame that didn’t last as a partnership. I loved Japan. And mick and Peter together was a dream pairing at the time. For me the year of bahaus would have been earlier . I bought Bella Lugosi the day it dropped on import , by 86 I would say my favourite album would have been the sisters coming along with this at the tail end of all the great batcave bands

well the 10 here in Ontario comes in at 81.95 Canadian and the Lore at 199.75 Canadian - Quarter Cask is 91.95, Select is 69.95 and 25 year is 659.95 , you are shopping the wrong store apparently

I haven't either. I have seen 1 full serve station I pass daily (and rumour has it there is another in the city ;) ) oddly it was cheaper than the self serve i passed this am , i may start using it if that continues

I have just been busy at work. and with a new dog. cameras can have the old different horses for different courses adage applied imo. If I was to return to a DSLR it would most defintely be a k1ii with a set of limiteds to start . personally i don't need the huge reach (I don't shoot birds or other things where a 450mm or longer lens would matter. I do pop in and out of the forums, and mostly stick to the why i won't buy a k3 thread or a couple of other post threads. I actually am debating on selling off most of my Fuji X and investing in a couple more GFX lenses. with the bulk of my shooting targetting more static images I could keep one xpro model and a couple of small f2 lenses and my x100v for streets and lightweight walkabout. and use the gfx for everything else. but at the moment I am spending most of my free time walking and training the new rescue dog and not shooting. last week we walked a total of 91 km this week may overtake that
Fo my money shoot what makes you happy and for me that is now GFX, and i like the EVF on both mine. but I would dealy love to see them make a medium format version of the Xpro line to replace the 50R because i love the hybrid finder
that said cell phone shots have been more my thing recently thanks to this lovely girl from Texas . in the meanwhile i would ignore 90% of you tuber reviews on almost anything. just like I ignore it as a source of hard news.

I am mixed on the parks, we have several close to me. One is actually a fenced off area at the lake which is a couple of acres of trees beach and lake access. Blue loved it there, and I think it is the best one in the city as it effectively is a natural area just secured so dogs aren't likely to escape easily (swimmers can) and anyone coming in is aware it is a leash free dog zone so less nasty interactions. the rest are mostly small parkettes with dual door access systems to help stop escapers (though the fences wouldn't stop Della they are only 3-3.5 feet high, as a catahoula there is no challenge there) the smaller parks the issues are if they are overcrowded (and post work they can be) there can be dominance fights break out , also they are known sources of dog diseases like Parvo, so you need to be sure your dog is well vaccinated . Della is still leashbound, and that is good for me because we walk a minimum of 10 km a day and some days manage as much as 16 km. I have lost some weight already and my outlook on life seeing the sun rise daily on dog walks is much improved after a grey winter
I have taken her into the parks she only is showing moderate interest so for the foreseeable it is long walks and training

It is less expensive than the Pentax medium format which is less sophisticated gfx50sii . And it has better dr than k1 and larger pixel sites. That said here is nothing wrong with the k1 but having used both for my purposes (now mostly evolving to landscape and studio work ) the gfx is the better camera. And the 110f 2 is the best lense I have ever had the option to try. . If I am interested in birding (and I really am not) I would say an xt4 with the 70-300 and 1.4 or 2 x tc would be an excellent lower cost kit , though I would prefer the 100-400 with the TC
