Well I can take both that's not really an issue I have plenty of room thank you southwest free bags. I will likely keep the k-50 in the room because i have also been asked/tasked with shooting some video's if possible. So I will have a dedicated video camera also.

Thank you for the offer the 8mm is really just an excuse to try a cheap fish eye, LOL. Thanks for the input Guy's really appreciate it 16-50 2.8 it is, I might throw the 50 1.4, in my pocket also . The 70-200 was really only a thought for the Staten island ferry. IDK how close it goes to the statue of liberty as we are not forking out the money to stand on the island my 2 little ones are too short under 4 feet to be allowed in Lady Liberty.

Heading to NYC next week with my family for a few days. Was really hoping to pick up a 10-20 but financially couldn't do it. I will be stopping by B&H to at least get some hands on time with a few items I've been looking at, maybe I could pick up the Rokinon 8mm or is that to much of a learning curve? Anyway what kind of kit should i take that i have don't want to carry to much gear around could take it all and leave in hotel room but don't know if i like that idea. I think the 16-50 should be my carry around lens. should i take the 70-200 or will it be useless in the city? Could i get away with just 1 of my primes I know they aren't the widest maybe the 18-250 not the best image quality but not superbad either it's a family trip not a photo trip, I am over thinking. Any suggestions i have looked at other threads on the same topic was just looking for some fresh insight.

I would second poses. I think it is one of the hardest things to get right, you control a camera you tell the camera what to do and it does what you say. With people not so much or what you think in your head would looks good sometimes in reality it doesn't. I know one of the big problems is pinterest, If she hasn't already she will likely see something on pinterest and say i want this shot weeelllll not everyone looks good in or can recreate those poses so if she is set on some learn them and have them practice them as much as possible before the shoot for them use a big mirror for you work with anyone you can and put them in those poses. Take some shots as they are going in and out of poses sometimes they look better than the actual pose.
Secondly take your time this will not likely be a 1 hour session.

I have been a member of many different forums over the years and this one has some of the most helpful people out there. On another note many forums i have been on had PAY IT FORWARD in the market place area. Which you would give something away but who ever claimed the item would have to give something away in return or they couldn't claim it, it's a fun way for people to move gear around to others.

Sad but true story.
As someone who recently hired a wedding photographer for my own wedding. I can say that my now wife got a "checklist" from one of her wedding boards that stated "make sure your photographer uses FF camera. I laughed she said well it must be important because it was question number 3. So it could help with business cause a lot of brides use these checklist as gospel and if they nor the grooms knows any better you could be missing some gig's.

Funny i was just looking at the 5th birthday giveaway items. Pentax remote F. Now we get a K-50 so with the current inflation of the Giveaways 15th birthday should be a Full Frame bundle?

I went through this last year with my daughter. I was able to find a k-5 for a little over $200 I have also seen some in the market place recently around $200. So if you still have time keep an eye out. Because the camera's around $100 will still be around $100 when you are out of time looking for a K-5.

Thanks for all the input. This has helped get me off the fence about the Tamron. I think (know) I over read reviews and it is reassuring that the "clunky" switch AF/MF is not that bad. Now for other news while waiting to hear some input a Sigma showed up on the bay this morning BIN $420 which was less than I was going to spend on the Tamron so needless to say I snatched it up. But i think this thread will help people that are on the fence with the Tamron.

From What I understand it doesn't work that way with the Tamron 70-200 2.8
