No problem at all! I really welcome well meant advice. :D
After your 1st post, I realized I needed to clarify the surcumstances a bit. Re-reading it, it seems I've written it a wee bit on the defensive.
But, your advice did make me go over some shots I made earlier this month with a shutterspeed of 1/1000 and I think going to 1/500 or 1/640 might also do the trick next time. I mean: still keeping enough "panning" blur in the background to minimize the distraction of all the parked cars, caravans and mobile homes. :)

Thanks for watching and replying!
Anyway, this was my first time trying to shoot a surfer, gybing, and passing me almost within arms reach (this was shot at 16mm). And I'll definately try it again when I have the chance. But, with the water almost chest high and quite choppy, it's not easy to turn fast enough for proper panning, and I don't like the frozen nature of even higher shutter speeds (which is a matter of personal taste and therefore subjective).

Combining 2 hobbies. In between my own runs, it's fun to take some photos. It's a good thing both de K-5 and the DA* 16-50 are not too bothered by a bit of water. (Shutter was at 1/400) _K5_4199-A - 1200px by Ghanzer, on Flickr

Shot with my Sigma 120-400 at the full 400mm's.
What's next? Definately no Swiss Navy, but another Hornet shot is no problem (1/400, f/9, ISO80, 180mm): _K5_1916-BW - 1200px by Ghanzer, on Flickr
Neither is one of an EC-635 helicopter (1/50, f/13, ISO80, 400mm): _K5_1870-A - 1200px by Ghanzer, on Flickr
Both also with the Sigma 120-400 on the K-5.

Thanks everyone!
I would have loved to be able to say it was a chopper....
But truth be said, the shot was taken from the edge of one of the mountains near the airfield. :)

What I stated earlier on my PPG Bio still stands:
And in addition to that I can say I'm a very content K10d user as of December 2007. When looking for my first DSLR back then one of my main concerns was: "has to be capable to withstand the elements" (as in: moist and dust). Only 2 options were available, an Olympus and the K10d. It's clear which one won.
Decided to join after getting here a couple of times following links to this forum from one of the Dutch counterparts.
