Hey Pentax People!
Spring is on the way...sort of! At least some of the flowers think so. These little lovelies are in my neighbors yard and were calling my name for days as I walked by. Finally had good light and opportunity to shoot.
Take care,
Marcus

This is a simple ICM (intentional camera movement) technique. I use spot metering and meter the brightest part of the image, then set the shutter speed for about 1/8 to 1/2 a second. Once you have the exposure dialed in, it is just a matter of movement and trail and error. I usually take multiple images as you never quite know how it is going to turn out. In this one I simply panned left to right to produce the bands of color. It's a fun technique and I encourage you to give it a try.

Marcus

I'm intrigued with images that blend the real and the abstract. Ones that merge fact and fiction into one compelling work. I find it evocative and think that it speaks metaphorically to how differently we all see the world. We can agree on facts but argue endlessly over interpretation.
I made this image in Yachats on the Oregon coast. It was my first and only Explore on flickr.
I welcome your thoughts and criticisms.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, it is HDR, but used sparingly. The colors were all there but the scene had too much dynamic range for one image. HDR allowed the image to keep the full range of highlights and darks. I only enhanced color slightly. Glad it works for you.
Thanks for commenting Rondec.

Love this! Very dramatic sky and capture. HDR is great for framing a beautiful building with a dramatic sky.

Ahh a new lens, even if it is a loner. What a great feeling of expansiveness with a big zoom. Nothing else like it. You made some great shots on your first time out. I'm looking forward to seeing more. Sorry Norm.

Hey Susan--nice captures, especially nice light and crisp. I think the mill shot is perfect and very nice. Love the textures and composition.
The mountain shots have great light but suffer from too much less than interesting sky. The mountains are the subject of the shot but the sky dominates. The cropped image works better for me as we see more of the mountains. If you don't have a zoom to get closer, I would search for some sort of foreground interest to add another element to the shot.
Thanks for sharing these.--Marcus
