I will say that the thing that annoys me the most about Pentaxians is the way they build up amazing, somewhat irrational expectations for what can be accomplished in a small period of time and then wail when their particular need isn't taken care of by a new release. It isn't enough that the 70-200 f2.8 is very sharp and seems to have auto focus that is as fast as current top end Canon/Nikon models. We want something that is faster and sharper than anything they have. We need something with more fps than a Samsung NX-1, more auto focus points than a D4s, smaller than a OME-5, but with a grip the size of a D800 and all for the price of 560 US dollars (including kit lens). And even then, someone will be upset that they didn't include a free subscription to Pop Photo.

This is a similar upgrade from K5 to K5 II. That doesn't mean that it won't have real features that will be useful in every day shooting, but you can't really tell those from a spec sheet.

It is simply mind boggling that you can write off a product completely before it is announced, let alone anyone laying his/her hands on one! Whatever they name the AF system is irrelevant, it is how they perform in real life which counts!

But this is a very silly thing to say.

The whole digital revolution has changed the way cameras are used. Read carefully: ISO 128000 was a fairy-tale 20 years ago. That ISO is effectively night-vision. Your complaint is that it's not different enough from Nikon or Canon... but it's not like Nikon or Canon are doing things very differently. The same technology, for the most part, is available to all of these companies. Don't hold your breath for major advances in lens technology... optics are not going to advance that quickly. So you can get excited about technological advancements, like we see here, or you can continue to say silly things.

Thats like saying: oh, last year they released a 2 gigahertz CPU, and now they are releasing a 2.4 gigahertz CPU. Who cares? It's just faster, I want them to revolutionize the way computers work!

Give me a break. Every once and a while, something changes the way we work (i.e., digital camera sensors), most of the time, releases are refinements of previous ideas (e.g., ISO improvements). Both of these things are necessary for us to move "forward" (wherever that leads... I'm beginning to think that we are just moving into a future of total luxury paradoxically paired with perpetual unhappiness).

What does Pentax do differently from Nikon and Canon? Nothing really. They are kind of the Canada of camera companies. They do things tried and true, don't take major risks, don't ask too much, and provide a very nice and balanced experience. Sure, you can "have it all" in the USA... if you make it. And you can have it all with Canon or Nikon for only 30 000+ dollars. Pentax gives you a very nice selection of practical features at a competitive price point. It's boring and practical. It's why I chose Pentax. Why did you chose Pentax? With the hopes that they would release a laser-guided autofocus system which captures 3D holographic images?

Pardon me, did you try already !

You have been preaching doom and gloom since some of the info has been leaked, well I'm broken hearted that you are disappointed, maybe Pentax should have hired you as an adviser so there would be no video, no HDR, 89 AF points, 6 mega pixels, would have an ISO range of 80-400, and the camera could be large as a house !

Better yet, instead of complaining and moaning, why don't you get some investors together and build your own camera, I'm sure you can do better than Pentax, as a matter of fact I don't think there is a camera company on the planet that could compete with the "ogl" camera.

The only problem is only one person would buy it ... care to guess who that would be ?
