the spotmatic is one of the most beautiful pieces of industrial art ever made. i rank it with the swedish mauser m-96 rifle and winchester model 94 rifle.

i ask this in utter ignorance of such things, and here is why: i have fallen in love with the pentax-m 50/1.4. i have two of 'em on film cameras: bessa r2m (modified/adapted/rangefinder coupled) and ME super.
i would like to use the lens on a digital cam, focusing manually. i would like for it to retain its auto-stopdown while metering/exposing. is this possible on any of pentax's dslrs?
thanks for your patience and expertise.

the 50/1.4 is worth it. i have both. the 50/2's OOF area is scatter-shot and harsh in the larger apertures. the 50/1.4 OOF is silken, lovely for close people photos ...

if you are west of the mississippi, visit a 99cents only store. buy every roll of memories 200 you can ($1 a roll). it is said to be made on the former konica machinery. it is superb c-41 film. as for BW DIY, arista premium 400 from freestyle. it is rebranded tri-x. c-41 bw, there is only ilford xp2, unless you can find some kodak bw400cn on a dusty shelf somewhere ...

my walgreens here in alabama - where two of the techs are very well trained - does a good job. the manager told me that as their machinery is long paid for, he can't imagine his store giving up processing for a long time. he figures 4-5 years minimum.
