Does the 17-70 lens hood fit 16-45?

For me there was a better solution: as FA24-90 (already had it) and FAJ18-35 use same thread for hood I ended up purchasing second-hand FAJ18-35 (el cheapo) after loosing my DA16-45 polarizer window cover. Now I have hoods for replacement and a FF almost rectilinear wide-angle plastic toy for my film cameras :-)

IIRC correctly from my K10D days You must remove SD card from camera :-) or maybe it was so with my K100D and RMA 1.1... but still worth a try as this solved the problem. Has been discussed here some 4 (ouch) years ago.
And You must run RMA as administrator (right click etc.)

Maybe You can get help from Custom Menu settings: C2-10 and C2-11 which deal with WB including flash WB behavior. No K5 (yet :-) but on my K20D it works this way (drifts according to ambient if I wish).

For long years I have used small drag'n'drop utility named Casio Photo Transport to display WHATEVER jpegs or screenshots in my digital cameras- eg my K20D plays back Casio, Pentax compacts, Canon etc. jpegs without a problem.

1. If You want ONLY AF assist then select SB mode on flash
2. If You want it to aid focusing WITH flash camera must be in AF-S mode (no assist beam in AF-C).
3. camera controls do not affect AF assist behaviour on external flash otherwise AFAIK.

As title says- we are very sorry about loosing You... and I guess that Pentax/Hoya will see that this was a wrong idea.
Anyway, good luck with Your superb business and guess what- I personally hope that You will not dismiss this forum and at least share Your wonderful publications (and some PP hints maybe) with Your old Pentax epoque friends?

with Silicon Power products from I guess 2003 when I bought my Pentax "Altoids" S digital compact with 128 (!) MB card :-) As Silicon Power products are widely available locally and approx. 2 times cheaper I have loads of them ranging from standard 1/2 GB SD ones as well as 4/8 GB SDHC class 6 and 10 ones. Never had a problem and I always eject the card and use it in my card reader- so I guess build quality is also OK (the eldest have outlived my compacts plus K100/K10/K20 and still OK). I also use some SDHC class 6 Sandisks and my experience is that Sil. Power speeds are at least as good. Have tried some other brands but was never lucky- all kinds of problems from data loss to mechanical destruction.
So much about my experiences- best and happy shooting, JR

Hmm, for some reason I did not regret departing with my K10D but for some unrational reason kept my K100D- and am very happy I did... Although on the slow side it has been an amazing macro and low-light workhorse for me. Hope it lasts on and on :-)

because both have an advantage for me over superb LR/ACR: images are far more 3D and natural (one of my preferences staying in our Pentax camp)- for me LR is too... I do not know- plasticy even with my best efforts :-( So C1 for lower ISOs and DxO especially for travel shots with supported 18-250 making this superzoom like a "real" glass and higher ISOs. Shame that DxO has so few modules for Pentax users despite of numerous requests etc.

As of personal taste I have lately found that I spend more time with C1 than LR or even my previous favorite DxO :-) Although lens and sensor correction modules with DxO work miracles (at least at low ISO) with run-around 18-250, I still find C1 very pleasing and highly customizable for my needs. Somehow images ran through C1 retain the 3D look I admire Pentax for...

And of course kudos to Gordon for his magenta cast remover for high ISO shots on K20D- works wonders for me.

Why won't Pentax flash PTTL work?

Hi, it is all about metering and not flash itself. In first example camera tried to avoid overexposure from windows- here I guess spot metering would do a great job as matrix/CW ones "see" the windows and dramatically lower the flash output despite of fact that flash will not make them brighter- camera just can not analyze the content of frame. In second example a step to the right would cure it all as metering underexposes due to the reflection from the background glass-covered reflective image. With auto flash no such precise decisions are made. IMHO shooting with flash is very creative and it takes a lot of learning to understand its behavior :-) but once You get the idea it is pure fun.

Must be lucky so far :-) 5 years of extensive use and zero problems- other that my Eneloops seem a tad bigger than regular size the flash is designed for... but OTOH this keeps battery door much tighter.

I personally do not recall any Tammy 28-75 problems on Pentax bodies. Maybe there is something wrong with contacts (oxidation, grease, dirt etc.) and in this case I would suggest cleaning lens contacts as intermittent contact can cause erratic data transfer which may fool the camera :-) Also the contacts may be mechanically misaligned- too recessed etc. - who knows...

Welcome to community :-)
Just curious- does this happen specific to lens in use? Some Sigmas like 24-135 can cause menu etc. lockup on Pentax DSLRs and have been successfully rechipped by Sigma- so it was problem of initial reverse engineering by 3rd party.

AF Adjustment for K20D
Posted By Reps
Replies: 3

There might be a problem with non-Pentax glass: as the lens IDs used by 3rd party glass are not genuine for Pentax camera the adjustments MAY overlap. E.g. my Sigma 24-135 and Tammy 18-250 share something similar so I can not adjust them individually- adjust one and when I switch then false adjustments are applied - at least on my K20D. With Pentax branded glass everyone has its unique adjustments.
One remark though- after perfect adjustment in daylight You must know that in artificial light Your lenses will front-focus a tad- but it is easily correctable when You do an extensive shooting in different conditions- just readjust before...

... just use it when needed :-) Mine is 3+ years old and still goes strong but has been used very rarely as my K20D manages to handle dust nicely, mainly using it for lenses and my K100D backup. So far used about 6 sheets of stickies.

Hi and welcome,
Your problem might be related to Custom function #12: WB Adjustment range - when on Auto it does additional adjustment even if fixed preset is selected.
Also take a look at CF #11 settings in Your camera.

Capture One Pro vs Lightroom

After extensive testing of C1 5 Pro I did the following:
1. Voted it as my pick #1 as converter plus organizer;
2. Gave my LR license away as a Christmas gift;
3. Purchased DxO during their (very) fair discount offer - was rather impressed during trial period;
4. Could not justify my long time favorite Silkypix upgrade to ver. 4...
So here I am now- partly happy, partly not, but MUST say that C1 does everything I want (after serious tweaking of course) and beyond. Expensive- YES, useful- give the trial a try and read the rather comprehensive manual coming with it.

K100D can't recognise lenses - pls help?

that means: focusing ring is decoupled from AF-drive for manual adjustment if needed- very neat and offered only on SDM lenses by other manufacturers. Your Sigmas behave like FA or FAJ (the lattest have no aperture ring either) lenses from Pentax- direct coupling from AF drive to focusing ring.
Maybe You can give a try and inspect the contacts carefully (maybe some of them have had some deformation- sitting deeper etc.) and clean them again (I personally use soft eraser for this).
Best and happy shooting, JR
