Uhmm not a great move to use cologne lol.. But hey if it works.... It's ok.
I say not a great move, cuz the cologne have no pure alcohol, and can degrade the coatings.
I clean all my stuff sensor, lens, viewfinder with isoproyl alcohol at 97% you can get it at walmart. And it works pretty good.

Just to add if you are going to work with the focus screen I highly suggest, tu cut a piece of printer paper just a bit wider than the mirror, and place this strip of paper on top.. Just to prevent something hitting/touching the mirror.

Could be on the back of the focus screen, if your camera allow to be removed you can remove it, use a blower and then put again the focus screen.

I'm not a k30 owner.. But what you are saying is called long exposure noise reduction. At least all the cameras I have own had the option to turn it off.. Download the user manual of the k30 and there you will get the answer if it allow to turn it off. I don't remember when I read the manual, but believe it has the option.

I agree Pentax did a good job on how they clean the Raw, however I tend to believe that when NR is applied at the core level that way, tends to loose some detail. And also for me I like to clean my images. Here is one testing ISO 6400 from my current camera http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8444/7782905264_b945e41101_o.jpg
ISO:6400, 135mm F5.6, Shutter: 1/8 c-meier I'm pretty sure you will not regret, the K30 is showing some nice stuff under the housing !!

So, not only me is the one that sees that even for RAW there is NR Applied... but I ask again why Pentax do this ? Certainly theyknow how to do it. Because is very well controlled but at the end they not deliver plain RAW files.. so here are cooked Raws :(
On the saturation part.. I think could be to not get channels very quick saturated and then the clipping starts.

It's not expose to they I want.. you are reading only what you want.. I said I see a lot of underexposed shots on the pentax groups,as well here in the forum. I wasn't referring exactly to you so I think you are overreacting but since you took it personal, for example I see a shot here in on your album will your camera take people pictures? he asked - patrick9's Album: street - PentaxForums.com That is exactly 1 stop underexposed, the same that you bias the exposure.. Probably you prints came fine because the printers do brightness/saturation correction unless you program to no do it.
But calm down men.. Don't take it personal I was referring in general not exactly to you. And seen the poll well.. I though why some Pentax user think they are superior to other users, if that was true it must show on the Pictures, right ? since we are talking about cameras/knowledge etc..
It would be something like if you are (example ok?) a Ford Focus (RS) user , and in your forum they think they are superior to lets say.. Corvettes... Well then they must show they are superior at the track. Got the point now ??
If your monitor is old doesn't care, if is working use it until it die, if its a CRT monitor believe me it's worth getting a calibrating device such as the pantone huey, I also use a very old CRT monitor, and I resist the idea to upgrade to an LCD even with IPS panel, because those offer better color reproduction when calibrated ( I have to calibrate mine twice a month due to age), and are not much affected by angle vision lol
Just because I saw your pictures probably you will want to dig mines also for flaws.. here is my stream Flickr: Carlos Pérez..'s Photostream in no way mine are perfect, I know it. I was just saying what I have observed and was kinda surprised because at least the new Sony sensors but tuned by Pentax are real kickers, and I can't believe why there are a lot of people not squeezing the quality that this cameras can deliver..
Honestly I can't wait to see the K-5 replacement, probably I will switch if it has all the things I need (not what I want because that's another story)
Cheers..

What ???? That's the reason Macro lenses are not much recommended for Portrait work because they are Sharper and will show every skin blemish and also the slow focus on them.

Compared to RAW to RAW ISO:3200 with what I think is the direct contender T4i to bad DPreview want to put it on a superior level because the price certainly is not, but also would be nice to see it on that level because with the dynamic range that it offers, and the price point must score A very great price-value rate..
Here are some crops i made this are default camera values with Luma noise at 0 and sharpen at 0 for color noise I left the default values of 25
I didn't resize the 18mp sensor because as you know there happen some scale and will lead to a sharper pic.
Look at this one, the dime for example and the letters. T4i on the left and K-30 on the right
On this one. check out the number of the day 15, and the day, also on the watch background you can see the artifacts that Noise reduction in camera are prone to produce.
T4i on the Left side, K30 on the right side.
Check out the texts on the batt's T4i on the left and K-30 on the right

K-30 on the left and T4i on the right check out all the edges on that stamp.
T4i on the left and K-30 on the right again the letters, and see the blurry on the Q , that kind blurry is like the one appears when we use to much NR
And the final part more controversial I may say..
T4i on the left and K-30 on the right check out the thread rolls, ofcourse there are cleaner but the edges are softer and also the thread itself. And look at the bottom text it's completly blurry
Sure, the lens and DoF play a huge part on this.. But the K-30 was tested with the smc PENTAX-D FA 50mm F2.8 MACRO @ F8 and the T4i with EF50mm f/1.4 USM @ F8 But a Macro Lens had always been sharper than a traditional prime lens, so I don't get it..
So.. what could be the reason for this kind of blurry/softness?

But I'm wondering why Pentax have noise reduction on the RAW, thats why are cleaner, but download the RAW's from dpreview, don't go with the side to side charts. And you will see that the raws even with all the NR Off are still reduced and lost sharpness is happening..
Anyone know why Pentax do this ??

See ? that's what I mean... I think that is the same behavior I have observed.
And yeah !! ETTR is an awesome technique mostly for raw shooter.. Have you ever tried ETTR with UniWB ?

Yeah but at least what I have seen on other brands, that doesn't affect RAW, So if you have NR enable should only affect JPG's and not Raw's but if its affecting, that means Raws are not Raws.

Don't forget that the Nikon entry levels, doesn't have a drive motor, so there a lot of "AF" lenses that doesn't focus on those bodys and had to be MF, and let alone propietary unchipped lenses.. Entry levels up to the D90 doesn't meter also ! So thats harder, and have to learn to read the Histogram. Thats why I would never ever recommend an entry level Nikon.. On the Canon side they even meter without a lens attached, lol.. And you Pentax guys have the ability to even "auto" stop down manual lenses. :)
Might be, so could be that they don't use the histogram either ?
Really I'm enjoying this thread without the fanboys that we can always face on a canikon discussion

Nope, it's not wrong if he KNOW why it's underexposing. But give an example on which situation an underexposed shot will be the good one. And if you haven a visual example will be better so I can understand that.

Judging exposure when there is something white, and the outcome comes white and not as middle grey like cameras interpret the white tones but not blown and with plenty of detail, and if you look at the histogram is filled with data on it, shadows-midtones-highlights.
My camera is always on M mode, rarely on P.. But I understand what you do here.. But having always on -.5 EV could be troublesome depending on the metering you are using and if there is White tones and black on the scene. You are still underexposing something that by nature is underexposed.
If I hand my camera to somebody else to take me a picture with my GF for example, then I will switch it to Auto... I don't want to take the risk of a crap picture, at least I will have an "auto" raw that can be corrected lol..
Kudos... That's the attitude, friends don't let friends take pictures in Auto, you must push them to go out of the "comfort" zone

Hey guys hope anyone can tell me more about this Sears 135 F2.8 M42 mount, who made it ?? But I haven't see other one like this.. The focus barrel is kinda different for the ones I have see, and it doesn't have a macro zone. but I use it with extension tubes and Raynox DCR-250 see below.

I agree the moment is always more important, but with the knowledge you will get the important moment and correct exposure or at least near a correct, Sure there are some error that might and will happen. But with knowledge you try to avoid that.. In example
You gave 2 guys a camera, and 1a) return with 10 pictures but 3 underexposed and 2a) return with 10 pictures but 9 underexposed.. which one know more ?? (all the pictures have strong moment)

Well then if they don't care about getting a proper exposure, that would mean that they don't know about photography, or I don't get it why someone wouldn't care about getting a proper exposure ?
With your second sentence, so you are saying that top range Nikon and Canon lenses are better in quality??

I shoot Canon and probably will switch to Pentax.(have to see the K5 replacement)
What I think about the initial question is. And please Don't take this as an offense.
A lot of people shoot Canon/Nikon yeah because it has a huge marketing behind them, Also a lot of people think that because it's expensive is to be better and Of course there a lot canikon shooters that don't have a clue on what they are doing. On the Pentax side I have been watching a lot of pictures on flickr groups and also here in the forum. And I see a A LOT of pictures underexposed/out of focus, and the shooter is proud of that picture... What really put me thinking one day.. If Pentax is for knowledge people, why this shooters are not taking advantage of those great cameras/lenses. ? Probably because some just got a Pentax because it's cheaper (more affordable) and they still don't have a clue on what are doing/using ? repeat please don't take it personal it's not an offense.
On the other side maybe someone will ask why this guy is switching to Pentax ? And the answer is simple, well it's a cheaper system which can offer me WR body, lenses on an affordable price.
Cheers
Carlos.
