haha. well include me in the group of frustrated newbies. Very few in focus shots from yesterday's shoot. Do I purchase a ltd 70, 85 or 135 to reduce camera shake and AF faster? Whatever will make things easier. I've taken nice shots with the 70-200 but those subjects weren't running around.

Just wondering if any of the aftermarket batteries are any good or should I just buy the Pentax battery pack? Adorama sells an aftermarket for the K-5 for about 1/2 the price.

ok, received my K-5 from BH Photo last nite and charged the battery overnight. Do I need to do any firmware updates or anything before shooting?
Also. do any of you remember if your camera came with any packaging protective film on the viewing screen? Mine had none....just wondering if I received someones return rather than a new copy! I think I can trust BH but you never know....

What about some of the ebay stores? A couple NJ based stores have the K-5 for $1048, free shipping. Can these stores be trusted? Pretty good feedback

I've been shooting my daughter's basketball games with a k-x and a tamron 70-200 f2.8 the past month or so. I'm a beginner and although I did get some pretty nice pics, I feel the tamron AF is a little slow. I've seen this same lens coupled with the k-5 on a youtube video and it seemed to focus waaay faster on the k-5. Some say the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 is a much faster lens especially the old non-hsm, non-macro version. Do I buy the Sigma lens or do I spend almost twice as much and get the K-5???...and do not say buy both. haha, not an option right now.

hello all-newbie and current K-x owner here. I'm still learning how to use my K-x and I know the K-5 is waaay too advanced for me but.....I don't care, I want one!!!:p The problem is the past couple days I've been reading about these AF problems and its scaring the you know what out of me. I mean, whats the scoop? Is this a pretty big problem or is it a very small percentage of people getting bad units? Any input or info would be appreciated! Thanks in advance! oh yeah... besides the 18-55 kit lens, I have a Tamron 70-200 2.8 and a Tamron 28-75 2.8 on the way. Mainly going to use the camera for shooting my daughter's basketball games (indoors), Ice skating and family vacation pics.

yup, had some out of focus. Probably me, not the camera. haha When increasing the ISO, I can only go from 6400 to 12800? Is there a way to adjust the ISO somewhere in between while still shooting in Av mode?

ok, took some of my 1st basketball pics yesterday and was actually surprised there was some pretty good shots. I shot in Av mode at 6400 and F2.8 but I did notice shutter speed kind of slow at 1/250-1/500. Should I try 12800 or do you think I'll have too much noise? I'd like to increase my shutter speed a tad.

ok. I ordered the Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8, its coming Friday. I know some people are saying the AF is too slow for sports but budget restraints kept me away from the Sigma @ $1399. I'm hoping the Tamron coupled with the Kx, I'll be able to get decent shots of my daughters baskeball games in somewhat poorly lit gyms. Can anyone tell what settings my camera should be set at? Don't forget I'm a beginner so please explain. lol

lately, its been indoor basketball games. Will I need the tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 for this? Anything longer requires a tripod? How about the actual pic taking. Do I still press 1/2 way to focus on the moving player or is there a different technique? sorry for the probably dumb questions!

Hi All, newbie here with zero DSLR knowledge. Bought this camera so me & wifee could shoot vacation family pics and daughter's sport activities pics. Is there a zoom lens I can use with my Kx to shoot decent sport pics? And if so, how and what settings should I use? So far we only use the autofocus and default settings. It seems to get pretty good pics when theres enough light but some pretty awful ones in low light situations. Someone posted that its probably better to have the autofocus on center rather than 5 or 11 pt. Any advice would be appreciated and Thanks in advance!!!
