Hi Pentax Users,
I have a dilemma as follows and would appreciate your valid views.
I own a K7 and 16-50 DA*
Should I keep the K7 body and put money towards a 60-250 DA* lens or purchase a K5 ?
I am wondering if the K5 will give better IQ in situations such as landscape and low light photography ?
Thanks for your kind consideration.

Hello fellow members,
Having recently purchased a K7 and 16-50 D* lens I was somewhat concerned about the low scores attributed to both camera and lens on the "DXO" site.
Am I right to be concerned ?
Or is it a case that scoring system for camera and lens is based on "extreme" pixel peeping ? The image resource website advises that the K7 produces superb images.
Will the K5 and 16-50 D* lens produce higher scores ? I wonder.

Hi, I'm relatively new to DSLR photography and I am the recent proud owner of a new Pentax - Love it.
I am based in the Midlands, UK and wonder if anybody knows whether Pentax or any other organisation operates Pentax user days - I would welcome tuition and hands on advice.
Many thanks for reading this.

Hi All,
Your help please.
Relatively new to digital photography.
I have a K7 and 16-50 DX lens.
(1) My jpegs are a little soft straight from camera - Is this usual ?
(2) Could you please advise what degree of sharpening I should apply, as a general rule?
(3) Should sharpening be applied at the very end of the digital process or at the start.
I use IPHOTO and the sharpening tool runs from ( 1 - 100 )
Thank you for your considered and expert opinions.
King regards , Adam

Hi ,
My K7 has firmware version 1.0 - I wish to upgrade to version 1.10 - Do I have to update each version between 1.0 and 1.10 or do I go straight to version 1.10 ?
Has anybody done the upgrade and found that it improve camera performance ?
Thanks for your kind advice.

Hi Pentaxians,
I absolutely love my K7 and it feels so right with the 16-50 F2.8. You can therefore understand my disappointment when discovering that the centre image is "tack sharp" and yet the edges are soft at F5.6. My lens is 9028368.
Does the lens serial number indicate when the lens was made ?
Any idea how many lenses are affected ?
Please let me know.
Many thanks.
Adam.

Hi,
I'm new to this community having purchased my first Pentax and I wonder if anybody can help.
Has anybody published any actual depth of field figures / table for the 16-50 DA* showing dof at all apertures and specific focal lengths.
Thanks for reading this.

Hi ,
Your advice please. I have recently aquired the 16-50 Pentax lens.
I know there have been QI re - focusing and soft peripheral images.
Focusing seems fine. Edges seem slightly soft. Is that the nature of the lens or am I being too critical.
Is there any sure way of determining what is normal for this lens and what is not ?
Thanks very much for your replies.

Hi Fellow Pentax Users,
I have today ordered my first Pentax ( K7 and 16-50 F2.8 ) having previously used a Panasonic G1. I had a play with a Nikon D300S and Canon 50D however I took the decision to stay away from the "main" players. The Pentax felt just so right. Look forward to using my K7 and being part of this great community.
Yours,
Adam.
