Pigs are People Too!
Our last day to babysit Piggy. She is curled up on my office sofa awaiting the Supreme Court ruling that says "pigs are people too".
Eat, sleep, and play......she has a better life than 99% of people on earth, even better than my squirrels! DSCF1649 by Rupert2009, on Flickr
Shot with my X20 in the Pro Low Light setting...no processing, just straight from the camera at ISO 3200. This is an amazing little camera! View the full size, not bad at all for a Toy Camera! Everyone should have one! I hear the X30 will have a 1" sensor....can't wait to get one! :D
Regards!:)

Rupert I’m impressed, only been playing with the JPEG’s at the mo + the 18mm lens (waiting for the 35m), bit lighter then I expected but does feel well made.

Done a litte cropping to these, primes may take a little getting used to. Bahrain Mosque by skankin_giant, on Flickr Bahrain Mosque by skankin_giant, on Flickr
I did find things easier framing with the EVF, though the OVF is very nice and a tad nicer in low light.

Mom's Cherry Pie! Delicious, have a slice!:D I get one on my birthday and at Christmas!
I couldn't get good exposure in any setting, and flash blew it out too much...so I switched to Pro Low Light...works great for this kind of shot! :)

She doubled the cherries in this pie, sweet and tart...just perfect with whipped topping! DSCF1587-800 by Rupert2009, on Flickr

Nice photos everyone!
I was up in that area this weekend. I got a big plate of BBQ at Podnah's, but not too much for photos.
Here is one from a foggy day last week up on Marquam Hill. Seemed like the whole city was socked in, but especially OHSU which is a few hundred feet higher. Oddly, I was the only one walking around taking photos ;) Here you can see the PDX aerial tram emerging from the abyss. |

Beer Friday. I liked this American Porter a lot. Style:
Smoked Beer. Known as "rauchbier" in Germany, smoke-flavored beers were virtually unknown in the U.S. until Alaskan Smoked Porter was developed in 1988 Flavor Profile:
The dark, robust body and pronounced smoky flavor of this limited edition beer make it an adventuresome taste experience. Alaskan Smoked Porter is produced in limited "vintages" each year on November 1 |

I've shot so many birds and squirrels through my windows in the past few months that when I get healed I may never shoot another one!

Tuco....We do have some fine steakhouses in this area as well as some of the best BBQ anywhere on earth. I prefer to grill my own steaks, and since my good friend the Butcherman has that old-time MeatMarket, I have no problem getting an excellent steak to grill.
Prices are good , meat is fresh and excellent! He sells range fed beef and grinds his own hamburger. I buy a lot of ground sirloin from him. I read where store bought hamburger may be a blend of over a thousand different cows.....that's sort of scary.

Abie.....Brutally cold 27F here with about an inch or two of fine grained sleet covering everything.....it was 80F on Monday, this is terrible!:(
Being locked in by my foot and the cold, I have been doing a ton of window shooting of the wildlife and making card fronts for Christmas cards. Can't use my little X20...range is too short...but my K5 and Bigma have been getting a lot of work!
Here is one for you! IMGP4055-800-card by Rupert2009, on Flickr

Must be your lucky day! Here is a long winded Rupert story for you.......
It was 1970, Jan 2nd or 3rd, and I had an opportunity to visit an old friend in Minneapolis. I had a few days off and she had been begging me to come up and visit in the "winter wonderland". My boss and best friend, took me to the airport, back then we only had Love Field in Dallas....and my plane departed at 7:40 pm...got there at 7:30 and boarded immediately.....you probably don't remember when it was that easy. No lines, no TSA, just walk to the gate and board! It was 84F that evening, and gorgeous. I was wearing my sports jacket and business slacks, and carried a windbreaker jacket under my arm and a small carry-on bag with jeans and such.
It was a Boeing 707....remember those? I had flown on a lot of them, but never north of Oklahoma City. My first concern came when we made a stop at Kansas City and I saw some snow on the ground.....for a cold hater like me, it was disturbing. In no time we were approaching the airport in Minneapolis, and as I looked down I could see snow halfway up the side of two story homes. I damn near had a panic attack! Upon de-boarding, I went directly to the first lounge and got a shot of straight Scotch and waited for my friend. When she arrived we went to her car, a Buick convertible, top up but still icy cold inside, and headed across town. Roads were covered in snow and she drove like it was a sunny day in Dallas...scared me to death!
I spent three days there, only went outside to go to a party once and to eat out a couple of times. Worried the whole time that the furnace might stop working, looked out the windows in horror, and prayed to get back to Texas in a thawed condition.
Never went north of the Texas border again after September, and never will! I still don't see how people live in those conditions! In all fairness to Mn, I did visit again in June a couple of years later. Checked first to make certain it was warm and sunny.....and we went to a little town about an hour north of Minneapolis where her her family had 1500 acres of wooded land with dozens and dozens of little natural lakes. It was beautiful beyond description, and the weather was fantastic. Still......Mn is not a place I'd ever want to live, that icy cold will forever be frozen into my mind!
Best Regards!:)

Beeeeeeer Friday! ;)
Rough day at work today....i can definitely use some suds tonight. Here is a beer photo from a recent beer and cheese pairing/tasting my friend held. This was the second annual event with a wide variety of beers/cheeses. I have a few more photos to follow.
From Upright Brewing here in PDX......This beer is simply named "Four"....not a real creative name, but as always, the description is.
"Four is a wheat beer embodying the spirit of country-style French & Belgian ales. It's light but nuanced with floral and herbal aromas and flavors, capped by a dry and mildly tart finish."
Exif Info:
Malts: pale, wheat, vienna
Hops: santiam
4.5%, 18 IBU's
Photos with my X100.
Hope everyone has a few cold ones in their fridge!

Where are you guys? Hope you didn't freeze out somewhere? The sun melted enough ice off the deck today that I hobbled out on my walker, risky as it was, to get an X20 shot of the Woods of Otis in ice. I had to do it while I had the chance, at sunset Otis starts burning those tires for heat and you can't see a damn thing but black smoke.:( DSCF1572-800 by Rupert2009, on Flickr

Lots of great photos on this thread!
Would y'all allow some XF1 shots here?
I've been having a blast with this little guy, haven't tried anything serious yet, mainly the stuff I grill or que for posting on another forum.
Thanks to Rupert for tipping me off about the pro low-light feature.
No great shots, but I like the graininess of the pics taken after dark.
Getting my grill ready last night:
My poor pooch wanted outside with me, but the deck and steps are covered with ice and snow, was afraid she would slip and get hurt.
Shot the lights out front:
And this was dinner, hickory smoked grilled beef tri tip: |
