Resolution question

No one sees my computer screen so I can only go by what I see.Everything is magnified 6X.

I can't focus my K-x because the image I see is too small and blurred.I therefore use auto focus.I shoot in raw.

I think I will keep the resolution set to where it is.Maybe sometime in the future when I understand how to operate my camera better I might try a different resolution.

Thank you for your reply :)

Well the reason I asked was because I am legally blind and I use my computer screen at 6X magnification, except when I first view a photo at regular resolution, then I increase the magnification to 6X.Details pop out at that 6x mag.But I run a photo screensaver at regular size and can usually make out what am am seeing without any detail.

The on camera display is of no real use to me as it is to blurry and I have to use a magnifying glass to read anything/settings on the camera and on the screen.

None of this is a big deal but I just want to get the best detail/sharpness I can.

Thanks for the reply.

Would it be safe for me to say that the larger the number of pixels then the better the quality/sharper of picture?

I'm legally blind so it's harder for me to focus my camera therefore I need to take advantage of any tricks, like shooting in the highest camera resolution poosble or not to be concered about that because computer screen resolution negates any benifit of higher camera resolution.

My screen magnifier is 6X magnification so I do see a lot of imperfections :)

Well that was scary :):)
Price $299.00 US

PENTAX K-x

That will have to wait but I really would get one if I had that kind of money to spend,,add shipping and conversion into Canadian dollars also.

I remember a leather camera case my father many many years ago and I remember how sturdy it was.

I am glad you gave me that link though because now I know what I can buy myself when I have the money.

Thanks for directing me to that option :)
(I want one)

This is more to my liking,O1A Hard Plastic Waist Black Camera Belt Buckle Button - eBay (item 270562314530 end time Oct-09-10 01:08:32 PDT)
Thanks for that.

I am not interested in the chest harness thank you though.:)

Somewhere in one of my posts or answers to another post I mentioned that I had seem at Home Hardware a clip on tool/hammer device where you put your hammer or other tool through the small loop,
When I saw it at the hardware store I thought that it could possibly be used to hold a camera.I will go back over to the store and check it out.

I just watched the Skytop Trading leather case video,I really like the leather case and am going to their website now to get prices.Leather works for me:)

Thank you very much :)

I have watched the b-grip video before and I like what I see.You can use your pants belt or add another belt and mount the b-grip onto the other belt.
The other link to the Cotton Carrier was appreciated but it's not what I am looking for.

Thank you for your help and for posting the links,,I always like choices/options :)

I looked at the R-strap and I have a shoulder strap rigged up to hang the camera at my waist but it bounces and swings around too much, long strap because I am tall amplifies the pendulum effect.
The b-grip holster looks like it will solve the problem of movement.
Thanks :)

I am not happy with all the bouncing around my camera does when on a strap, either chest or sling. It bounces and swings a lot,the pendulum effect I call it.
I am considering the Amazon.com: Adorama B-Grip, Easy Access Belt Mounted Holder for Cameras and Camcorders: Camera & Photo

I know you need two hands to use it and I just happen to have two hands.I also like the fact it does not swing, not into swingers :)

It's just a consideration at this point.I'm still researching the method that works best for me.

Best colours and sharpness are my concerns.

I have enough disk space where that is not an issue.

I was more curious than anything else.

This is just one of those times where I needed an explanation as to why doing something this way was better than doing it that way.

Thanks for the help.

I do see the scaling so I understand that now.
Why should I not have my camera take pictures at 1920x1200 if that is the best I can view?
I do not print images, only view them on my computer.

My K-x camera gives me in raw,a resolution of 4288x2848.
My screen resolution is 1920x1200.
I resize my pictures using Irfanview. But why is it that I can view the raw image that fits my screenwithout changing the resolution,or is that just in the photo editor that I am using.
I keep changing the resolution down to my screen size.
Confused about this!

I just looked at those lug adaptors and that got my attention. They look good so I am just trying to figure out if/how to make them myself cheaper than buying them and paying shipping, exchange rate, and Canadian tax,but that is a definite "On my list"
Thanks again :):)

PS
I added split rings onto my K-x lugs with no problem but a webbing attachment would definitely be the better attachment method.
I know what I want now and how to make it but I just don't have a sewing machine
'If I only had a sewing
machine" seems to be my tune of the day,big smile.

I guess what I was really looking for was a cheap DIY solution that wasn't one of the first few pages of a google search.

Thanks for the reply again :)

That was the video that made me decide that I wanted one like that. The only problem was I didn't have a long enough strap so I tried to use what was on hand, with marginal success.I even bought a set of those plastic buckles, among all the other split rings, nuts, wing nuts,L bracket, snaps, snap swivels, eye bolts,a dremel type tool, and ordered a spring loaded long arm articulating light plus I will be buying a 25W CFL full spectrum light for the fixture. WOW.
And I'm on a small pension,so DIY is what I do,he says with a big smile.

Thanks for the reminder though,I appreciate it.

I have seen that holster before. Not only that but I saw something very similar yesterday at the Home Hardware store that was exactly like the camera holster but for tools,eg hammers etc,and thought if I wanted a holster then that is what I would check out.
And for anybody out there looking for a camera holster I recommend checking out that tool holster at Home Hardware in Canada.
Thank you for your reply mtroute :)

Thanks bigdog,,I have a plate that comes wih the small tripod I bought, the kind with the flexible legs, that looks just like the plate you linked to,but I don't trust it for long term use,,too light weight for me.
That strap is what I am looking for.I guess I can buy a shoulder pad and some narrow webbing and take it to the shoe repair shop and have them sew the swivels or snaps, whichever I decide on.
The loop method appeals to me more than the two snap ends,it's something I have to decide on.
I do notice though that the camera hangs basically in the same position no matter if it is attached to the bottom or the top lugs.
So many choices I am having a difficult time deciding which way to go,I am over thinking a simple thing.:):)
Your information was helpful as it reflects what I am leaning towards.
Thank you..:)

I have a new K-x and the first thing I bought as an accessory was the a/c adaptor. If you are shooting inside,or outside for that matter and can plug into an electrical outlet, then you don't use the batteries.
The adaptor is well worth the money IMO.
Just something to think about and consider :)

OK,thanks for the info.
Looks like I am going to search out a long enough strap that I can customize to fit .That's my main issue right now.
I know how to make a safety strap and I have a wing nut as a lock-down for fast removal if a tripod is needed.
I have to check out some covered cable bicycle locks.
It wouldn't be such an issue if I had a sewing machine :)

That's basically what I made, only I had to add a extra length to the kit Pentax strap since it wasn't long enough.Mine doesn't look or feel good at all.
I don't think there is a DiY style that I haven't checked out.
I am concerned about the tripod mounting hole and also was wondering about the straps I posted the link to.
Thanks for the reply :)

I want to hang my K-x on my hip and I have made the strap that came in the kit work but it looks really amateurish,I had to make it longer by adding a piece of cord, and I am concerned about the attachment point coming loose in the camera body.
I am also considering buying a strap that is long enough for me,I'm 6'11/2" .
I like the hip hang as the chest hang bouces my camera all over.
I was looking at these straps but have really no idea of what to look for.
UPstrap: Product List

Can you advise me ?

I have spent the last few days doing a google on DIY straps and have spent around $20.00 at the hardware store to get my less than stellar results:)

Thank you in advance if you can help.

I am a two week old newbie and I say if your camera isn't around your neck then you aren't prepared, and just use common sense.
I notice a lot of comments on how to store, safeguard, pad, etc, but focus on where is that camera when this shot presents itself to you here in this moment, not after unpacking, unwrapping, opening, you get the picture, sorry about all t he puns but they just happen.
