I use my "green botton" for digital preview.
Keep in mind that in my (short) experience, Pentax seems to be quite conservative towards highlights, since it is able to recover lots of details from shadows. It seems to me that my exposure meter (don't know if this is the right translation from Italian...) is calibrated at something like -0.7 eV, so I usually adjust exposure by +1/3 eV or +2/3 eV.

Maybe you should read how FoggyDay describes his use of his K-r. Maybe you will understand my answer. Get a look here:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-k-r-forum/158917-kr-my-rrrrrrs.html

As I said, bad photos come from bad photographers. Even if your box-for-taking-photos doesn't work as it should in some situations, there are PLENTY of situations where it works fine, since we're talking about FF under tungsten light. But our "friend" here is saying something different.
Here is a summary of k-r situation:

1- most of them work fine
2- some of them have issues in tungsten light
3- some users don't know how to use their camera and blame the camera instead of themselves... because they all are better photographers then Cartier Bresson.

Solution:

1- no problem to solve
2- warranty repair; hopefully go to point 1- / return the camera and be happy with the new one
3- sell the camera, stop pissing serious people on forums, go buy a canikon and whine on canikon forums because the camera can't make coffee.

Based on what he says, our "great 40 years photographer" seems to stay at point 3- . So, he's a crappy photographer, or a troll, or both.
Other people probably have real issues, and I haven't said anything about them. On the other side, as Nass pointed out, you are judging an entire community, on what bases? My sentence, you said, about this great misunderstood photographer. Even if you were right about me (the bad, ugly fanboy), there are thousand of users here, not just me.
I suggest you to think again about your previous statement.

As for me... fanboy? I'll be a fanboy when Pentax will ask me to be one, paying me for that. I'm only a happy customer, till now. Tomorrow I could be very angry, who knows?

The pentamirror was there, in the camera, even before someone purchased it. It didn't sneak in at night at some point. Someone who needs a pentaprism will simply buy a body featuring it. It's a nonsense to complain about something one has KNOWINGLY bought.
Besides, I have K-r since last February. Never seen ANY front/back focus issues, even in strange lights. Just like other millions users.
Moreover, since noone has burned PENTAX on one's limbs, nobody is forced to keep something he/she dislikes. Maybe he/she will like more some canikon cheap-plastic crap.

Worst troll ever. Or, maybe, worst photographer ever. 40 years of photography, you say. Well, one should have learned one or two things about photography, and good manners, during all this time. 40 years... and you buy a DSLR to use it like a P&S ... man, you are a real GENIUS!!!

You probably misunderstood my words, or I'm doing crap with my english :D sorry about that :(
I think that if you don't need what a MACRO lens gives you, you shouldn't buy one. It's nuts to buy a macro lens for portraits (??) ... and complain because you should do a lot of pp work after the shot to remove details O_o (like Emacs said here:https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/1566239-post471.html ).

So, you're telling us how crappy is DA 35mm f/2.8 macro for portraits (??) ... without having one, nor knowing what macro lenses are intended for and what kind of lens you need to shoot portraits, taking your stand on tests done by photozone using completely different bodies (k10 and k5) and probably without having ever used this lens in your life, and doing weird comparison with Tokina lens without knowing anything about Pentax and Tokina common lens projects..

You know... I've met much funnier trolls than you are. No more food from me :ugh:

It just has the angle of view (hope it's the correct translation) of a 52.5 mm, it's a 35mm lens. And group portraits aren't really what I call "portrait photo". I still can't understand why someone would buy a macro lens when fine details aren't relevant for the photos to take. It's just a waste of money. If you don't need a macro, don't buy one.

I can't see why someone would buy a 35mm macro lens to shoot portraits... except for some specific subjects. If you want a soft lens, just use FA 50mm f/1.4 (or DA*55mm, or FA 77mm) wide open..

I owe my respect to anyone, even if I don't know who he/she is and is just a name on a internet board, since I try to be civil and polite. This is only common sense and good manner. If you think this is odd, probably some moderator will explain you how we are expected to behave on a public internet board.
I asked you if you were kidding us with your statements, since I couldn't understand if you were serious or sarcastic. My fault, but I made a simple question.
I am not a truth bringer, so I use "would" or "could" instead of present simple, when I know I can't be 100% sure about what I say. So, read again my previous post.
If your point was only about QC, it wasn't clear at all in your previous post. I offered a different point of view about the topic "why people still find stained bodies in the stores", since THIS is what you were talking about at the beginning, not QC.
As for AF issues, Pentax HAS aknowledged the problem and is going to release a new firmware fix, so you seem to be wrong about that.

Good news for K-5 owners - Pentax Rumors - PentaxForums.com

If you don't care about other people's opinions, you are in the wrong place. This is a public board, a virtual place where people share thoughts, opinions, knowledge. You should write a book. People can't answer books.

@Isucadien:
First of all, I don't care about your work or your personal issues. You owe me respect as you owe respect to anyone in this board, so please choose a more polite tone when "talking" to me or anyone else here.
Some people has already explained you what my question was about. I'll explain it again. You are suggesting something that is not real and speak about that like you have God's truth in your hand.

1- Pentax KNOWINGLY shipped bodies with stained sensors.
This would have been a suicide. VERY unlikely to happen.

2- Pentax STILL ships bodies with stained sensors.
Read point 1-

3- Pentax still SELLS, knowingly, bodies with stained sensors.
I don't know how thing works in your country, but here in Italy STORES sells items and companies PRODUCE items. So you should complain about your local stores or distributors. Here in Italy, the local Pentax distributor has already removed from the market stained stocks, and is giving new K-5s to stained-k-5 owners, in about 10 days, if some stained body still comes out from other stocks.
If you want to complain about something, complain about stores and/or local distributors, not about Pentax. Pentax is doing what a serious company does when something goes wrong on its production line. If local stores don't check goods they're selling, buy elsewere.
Companies buy huge stocks of electronic parts. Q.C. on this stuff is done by sample, they can't check each single part they buy.

Relax. Nobody here is shooting at your feet. We're just talkin' -.-'

Are you keeping your KR despite FF Issue?

It seems to me that this issue is quite subjective and not affecting ALL K-r in the same way. Some (most?) people solved this with af fine tuning, some people didn't, some people (like me) have no issues at all.
I think this lack of consinstency and uniform repeatability in the phenomenon is bond to mechanical tolerances in the manifacturing process.
Pentax will probably fix this by a firmware update. Until then, send your k-r to them... or just use LV to focus.. I still don't see any good reason to send this lovely camera back to the shop :D

imho ;)
