Filter stuck in reduction ring

To save some money I bought 77mm polarising filter and set of adapters to fit it info smaller lenses. Unfortunately filter became stuck in 67mm ring. Situation is even worse as polariser is for wide angle lenses therefore there is not much of a metal part to take a good grasp.
What is the safest way to remove it without damaging the filter nor the adapter ?
