@All, sorry for the digression...
@bobbotron => Nope u don't need cactus flashes, i use that technique with 2xV5, 3xV6 (cactus triggers) and 1 Pentax 540 FGZ, 1 Metz AF 58 and 1 Metz AF 50 as flashes.

Hi bobbotron,

As you can see (link below) with:
2 cactus v5 or V6 (as remote shutter) and 1 or more V6 as flash trigger, you can use HSS with the right delay (for my K3&70-200 => 94ms).
I try from 1/180 up to 1/8000 with same delay and no curtain shadow !
Thx again to ClassA for helping with cactus products.

Hope it help

I agree Class A, thx to cactus to be care about Pentax users...I bought V5 and now V6 awaiting for HSS capatibility, it's my only goal with my lovely Pentax body's...I really need to go up to 1/180s for daylight shoots or more "artistics" purpose like keepind short DOF.
I can't understand Pentax keep that #!?# limitation and hope that Cactus would help us (not sure that they will but i will write an SOS into community forum ;-) ))

Thanks ClassA, u said that a V6 can pick up optical signal from my on-camera Pentax 540 (Metz can't be master in HSS) and transmit it to another V6

Sooooo, i just need to wait for the V6 to have an optical to radio solution !? (no need of a RF60). That's a very good news !

Best regards,

Novsky

Ok Class A but if i well understand, the RF60 is HSS optically as metz&pentax gear, not "optical to radio to optical" as the Aokatec, if i put a Metz into a soft box far away, he will never receive the RF60 signal. no ? Unless the new Cactus V6 transmit radio power signal hover 1/180 ?
Pleaaaase, tell me that i'm wrong ;-)

There is no TX/RX transmitter that perform Pentax TTL !! The only solution for HSS yet is to use Aokatec optical transmitter...

K3 vs K5 high ISO noise.

Yessss I know ;-), it was a "question" about comparative High ISO results, a post-processed 6400 may/must be announced as a 6400 ?! No ?
Particularly in post like K3 vs K5, we can't say "hey, look at K3 12800 ISO" that's in fact a 6400 one...right ?
it's not a "lawsuit" about your beautiful shots John, just a question about how to present High ISO results ;-)

Thanks, for u're answer.....

So, i'm always at -1 -0.7 Ev, my 3200 and rarely 6400 ISO shots are in fact respectively at 6400 & 12800 .... I'd never think about that ;-) ^_^

Hi John,

Cool live shots, i bridle my k3 at 6400 max 'cose i don't want so much noise on concert report and i'm surprised that u present a so clean shot at 12.800 !
but u said ISO 12,800 while in fact it's ISO 6400 as i can see on u're website, so why ? is it an estimation of the black parts of the image ?

This is the Raw vs Jpeg result (the jpeg on the screen make me mad the thirst time i saw it :D:D)

It's funny to discover function while changing menu/option but it's really annoying that laked detail & info..It seems that it's a starter Guide, not a real manual.

For Yvon Bourque's option, i can't understand that ! Buying a third party pdf to be aware of what are our dslr capability ?!

Please Pentax/Ricoh, give us the real and final manual asap !

You'r right Alizarine and as Awaldram said, Cactus V5 doesn't allow HSS. (see Aokatec for that)
U've got a Metz 58AF2, i can tell u that the Metz CAN'T be Master in HSS (yet without update)
So I use a 540 on Hotshoe or with a TTL cable (if it's too far for signal) to control my 2 58af2+ 2 48af1...(i can't do that if my flashes are into a softbox :hmm:)
Another problem is that this  540 doesn't keep memory when it go in sleep mode !

I don't care about TTL (but it's needed for HSS), i just want to be able to transmit an highspeed signal to my flash and i really hope that the K3 will boost Pentax and that thirdparty as PocketWIzard, Odin or cheaper Yongnuo will offer us radio hss triggers

K3 wifi

Hi all,
Do u think that WIFI will be the only solution for tethering ? On manual p66:
The camera cannot be operated while it is connected to a computer.
To operate the camera, terminate the USB connection on the computer, then turn off the camera and remove the USB cable.

So we can't play with Pktether in studio ? if we need WIFI for that, i'll have to buy a stock of battery ^_^
