I believe this is a black wasp.

I've always been very pleased with my 18-250. It's great for travel.

It's hard to find anything springlike here in March, but this comes close. There's snow in the forecast for tomorrow.

The new upgrades fix the problem. However, the photos I changed to fix the problem, either using auto curves or auto levels, had a green cast instead of a magenta cast. I had to reverse my previous fixes. Now they're fine.

It's a very nice day here today, so I went outside and took a few test shots. I found that in my case, using the latest raw converter update, with DNGs I have a strong magenta cast at ISO 800 and a slight magenta cast at ISO 400. Shots at ISOs 200, 1600, and 3200 are fine. PEFs at any ISO are fine. I'm not going to return to the previous raw converter version. I believe I'll just shoot PEF and not worry about it. If for some reason I decide to shoot DNGs, I'll try to remember to avoid ISO 800.

I've been playing with this a little. A couple of weeks ago I took a number of pictures of my grandson, all DNG's. I started at ISO 800, and switched to ISO 1600 for the last few. The ISO 800 photos all convert with the magenta cast. The ISO 1600 photos don't. They look much better. I have no idea why this is. All of the photos used AdobeRGB.

I'm using aperture 3, and it was fine until I installed Apple's newly released raw camera update this morning. I've found that with manipulation I can get a good image. Enclosed is an image as processed by the new raw converter. I turned down the hue boost in raw fine tuning, applied auto levels, and adjusted the luminance levels and saturation to get the second image. It's acceptable, but I would prefer not to go through that. Again, this is only a problem with DNGs.

I switched to PEF from DNG and took a couple of shots. The results are excellent. The problem is only with DNG files (every picture I've taken since I got the K5).

I'm an Aperture user. I just upgraded to Apple's new raw converter that includes the K5. The results are horrendous. The conversions all have a washed out pink/purple tone that no amount of adjustment corrects. I've attached copies of the same photo with the old conversion and the new conversion. The raw image was a DNG.

Seriously (sort of) into digital photography since my retirement a year ago after 36 years as an engineer. My wife and I like to hike and birdwatch, and the photos I take tend to reflect that.
