Upgrading from K-3ii to K-1

I also have an SMC M 1.7/50mm, originally coming with the MX. A lens that I also like a lot is the K 1.8/85mm. Superb lens. Used both on a K-5 and now on a K-3 Mk. III (which is a lot better than the K-5).

I own a K 2.5/135mm as well, which is less good than the 1.8/85mm in my opinion. And last but not least a 1.8/55mm, very nice as a portrait lens on APS-C. But that is not your main interest.
They can all be used on a FF. The lenses are sharp, focussing is very smooth, excellent build quality. If there is anything negative, then it is "bokeh fringing" in my experience. The unsharp zones can have some unpleasant fringing.

If you are interested in macro: a 4/100mm macro can be found for next to nothing. I had a 4/200mm, but that was a poor performer.

Well, in the end I had no choice than to take the risk (or run out of batteries), so I tried. No problem at all.
Thanks again to those who gave advice.

I forgot to bring the battery charger on a photo trip. I've got a usb-c cable to charge my phone. The Ricoh charger provided with the camera has a usb-a output (old usb connector), but my cable has usb-c at both ends. So it uses the usb pd outlet of the charger, which provides 5V (as usb-a) and 9V (for fast charging a mobile phone). The phone selects the correct voltage, but does anyone know if the camera will be damaged when I use the usb-c outlet of the charger?
Fortunately I brought a handful of batteries....

Any teleconverters which report correct aperture and focal length?

The Sigma TC1.4 doesn't report the correct focal length, nor the correct aperture (I owe one). In EXIF you read the values without TC.

Yes, I know. I use a TC2 as well sometimes, and of course this requires a sturdy tripod, remote release or (better) mirror lock-up, and still it is no guarantee for sharp images. LiveView with magnification for MF is practically useless, you touch the lens and the image bounces around. A disadvantage of in-body stabilization as compared to OS.
I don't expect to need a TC2 with 450mm as maximum focal length, but 1.4 might be useful.

That's correct. Useful for stable, stationary objects, as the 150-450 seems to have excellent MF options.

Just a thought, but an interesting one. You are right, the Canikon versions are more frequent in the used market. And since the important element is inside the lens, it will probably be no objection to cannibalize a heavily used copy. If Sigma is prepared to do the service.

Thanks, that is a nice idea. Can give it a try.

Thank you, this answers my questions. So the TC fits, inspite of the protruding element, but misses the contacts for the HSM. So it is practically useless.

I agree, that as long as the fungus doesn't spread there will be no problem with IQ. I did a similar test as you propose (some time ago I punched a circular piece out of a post-it paper and sticked it to the lens), and as expected there was no effect. It is the same as with dust in the lens: as long as it is a reasonable amount, you don't see it. The fungus could ruin my lens in the long run, but if I can keep it under control there is no problem.

My Sigma APO EX DG 4/100-300mm has a small fungus spot on the surface of the second lens element and Sigma can't remove it or replace the lens element (out of stock). No problem so far, but if the fungus get worse the lens will be lost. Shame, an excellent lens.

So I consider buying a Pentax 150-450mm. The Sigma came with a dedicated 1.4x TC, that fits only a subset of Sigma lenses. Does anyone know if it works with the 150-450? First, there are mechanical issues, e.g. it doesn't fit my Sigma 17-70mm Contemporary (protruding element in the TC). The 4/100-300mm is a screwdrive lens, but I can't even check the HSM AF of the 17-70mm because I can't mount the TC.
How about the Pentax 150-450mm?

I sent lens and camera to service. Focus is spot on at zero correction now.
I had to adjust all other lenses as well, because the K3 Mk.III was also calibrated. All have a correction of 0 or very close to 0, except the DA 4/16-45mm (+4, but easily within limits).

Nice image. Nominated.
I'd like it even more if there was "a little less pano": I'd crop the trees at the left and right edges.

I stayed a week in Norway to photograph autumn colors. This is the last day: on my way back to the airport I stopped to shoot this image, early in the morning.
Combination of 3 exposures. The contrast was way too much for the K10D and 1 exposure; probably no problem for a K3 III.

The Pentax K 1.8/55mm is an excellent portrait lens on APS-C, and the lens I like best is the SMC K 1.8/85mm (that was my portrait lens in the film era). The 85mm has great image quality, and the smoothest focussing you can imagine.

The first time I was confronted with the properties of ES, was when I was shooting with a model in available city light in the evening. The high frequent flicker of some light sources will cause patterns, stripes, in your images.
Fortunately I saw it almost immediately on the display. It is an effect that could be expected. But I didn't realize it beforehand.
