This was taken about a mile from the subject lighthouse from a moving ferry off the coast of Maine...using my old *ist DL (no stabilization) and a mediocre Tamron lens at 200mm. Yes I need some new gear :o The key to sharp images even with antiquated gear is good light, fast shutter speed (1/750), bump the ISO up a little, and a medium F stop...in this case 11. A small bit of post process...leveling, sharpening, and a slight tweak on saturation and good to go :D

I am new to DSLR's and had to pick up a easy to use and learn on model for a digital photography class Im taking. A friend recommended the Pentax line so I picked up a lightly used *ist DL to use in class. I've already spent a few hours browsing the forums and decided to join in :) What a great site!
I am posting a practice shot I took this evening. 400 ISO f5.6
