DC vs SDM

SDM is supposed to be high end, but (and its a big but) SDM has a reputation for failing (as in dead AF) while DC does not. Hence, I own a DC lens but will not buy SDM.

KAF3, KAF2, KAF or KA mount ...!

They will all fit your camera. The differences are in what mechanical/electronic features are enabled but they will all physically fit and work on your camera. Until you know more just avoid the K-R or Ricoh K mount lenses with the imfamous Ricoh Pin and you'll be safe.

looking for opinion on which circular polarizer to get

Step-down rings are great. Personally, I'd consider two CPL filters - 82mm & 58mm with step-downs for the other sizes.

Best Cost-Quality ratio CPL for me when I reviewed all the various articles and opinions was the Marumi Super DHG MC CPLmodels.

Good luck.

Thank you each for your kind words.

---------- Post added 07-23-21 at 01:13 PM ----------

I've had several requestes to break up the K1 and its grip and to not send the lens.

Sorry, but I have no use for the grip without the camera. The lens is a $0 extra I am just throwing in and would be happy to keep or send. However, the price is set and the grip will go out with the camera, sorry.
Thanks for the inquiry,
-Robert

How about this one? Or does the subtle background texture make it not a "low key" image?

I had an 800mm mirror lens a few years back and sold it off. Far too finicky for my taste for what you got out of it. I do recall that it was nearly useless without a tripod and it did not like direct sunlight AT ALL. Photo quality improved dramatically with a 3-stage collapsible rubber hood (hard to find at that diameter but well worth the effort).

Funny, but I have owned Wasabi batteries for 3 cameras and have had nothing but great performance from the (with the OEM battery as the benchmark). I'm often left scratching my head when I read "laboratory" results because for camera gear they often bear no resemblance to my real world experience.

There are a lot of people that will only use the battery that came with the camera. There are a lot that will only buy OEM for their camera. Me, I value a great cost/benefit ratio higher than the sicker on the back of the battery. 80% the benefit for 15% the cost works for me. Others have different equations they use to make their decisions.

Pentax set

Total purchase value of this set (note, before overhaul, cleaning, etc.)

~ € 1,900

Collector value *

~ € 14,000

( This value is based on the average of 1-to-10 price listings per camera, registered since 2010 )

Because we want to get rid of the set due to lack of space, we certainly do not ask for trade prices but we are willing to sell the complete set for a nice price.

K-5IIs - still like it best of all my Pentax cameras. The K-1 is better in many regards but also bigger. When I want to do candids its the Q though.

I've been forced, due to my profession, to use cloud computing for a variety of data analyses and other functions. I've conducted an assessment and the process now with the online process and the highest speed office connection takes 5.2x longer than the desktop native program that I was using prior to this "improvement". Add to that the fact that the server was down yesterday at a crucial time, they have "planned maintenance", and other hassles and Cloud computing has been nothing but a PITA for me every single time I've been forced (yes, forced) to use it. Buy the software, install it on my computer, run it whenever I want is far and away better in every regard from my experiences. Part of why I asked a while ago for recommendations for alternatives to LR and PS as I will not pay monthly for online software access. Rant over.

Thanks. Yes, but its the principle of the thing. They lie and say its for OUR convenience and to ensure we have the MOST up-to-date software. I call BS. Its all about profit and control on their part. Just like Office365, etc. I'm using LR5.7 right now and I'm mostly fine but I'm considering something more robust that will handle the K1 output.

I've tried them and they're a kludge. They are neither fish nor foul and just don't really add much to the situation. Not stable enough, IMHO, to leave your camera attached without you holding on and not as portable and easy to reposition as a monopod alone. YMMV.

Teens have no concept of "permanent" and thus engage in behaviors that are recorded and spread far and wide. Its not just the visual either. Just yesterday as I walked up to my teenage daughter and asked "What are you guys doing?" a friend replied (jokingly, he's a great kid) "A drug deal." I hit record on my phone where he couldn't see and said "Sorry, what?" and he repeated himself. I played it for him and asked if the listener could see his face and the circumstances. Lots of serious faces and concerned looks from the teens.
