Hello everyone.
Trying to use PkTriggerCord - Windows 11 + K3 II. I installed the dependencies, the camera gets detected and switches to capture more. I can check status and set some settings, but the camera does not trigger from the UI.
I tried to invoke one capture via the CLI with the simplest command:
C:\Users\user\Downloads\pktriggercord-0.85.00-win>pktriggercord-cli --file_format dng -o test.dng
pktriggercord-cli: K-3II Connected...
And this is where it hangs also.
Any advice?

Steve,
Unfortunately you were right. The standard solution was applying Pixel Mapping and not adressing why the camera developed 23 defective pixels īn just one month since repaired. It's higly plausible that when it comes out of warranty, in two months, issues could escalate up to the camera becoming unusable due to defective pixels.
So I have requested a more detailed explanation about the test performed, what technical causes could generate this and what happens if the camera breakes around the same issue post warranty. In the mean time, I have also contacted Ricoh Imaging Europe with the details of this case, asking about Pentax guidline to solving this kind of issues.
I am waiting for an answer from both entities (the Romanian partner and Ricoh Imaging) before proceeding forward to adress my consumer rights. I am, however, slightly dissapointed with this turn of events. :(

I am aware of that. But the people over there have always been fair and friendly. I have repaired my old K-x several times over there. I have replaced the top plate on it twice and also changed the eye piece which I managed to smudge while cleaning. And since the repair it's covered by warranty, which is ultimately paid for by the manufacturer, I really do hope they won't scrounge.
Which isn't to say I won't be checking the camera thorrougly when it comes back.

Hi there, and welcome to Bucharest.
The local Pentax Dealer might be able to sell you a charger, but they open on Monday morning. If you're relying on Google Maps, be aware it's mistakenly places much further down the street than it actually is. See the attachment for what you're actually looking for. Contact Focus94: Aparate foto, camere foto
You could also try buying from here, but you wont get it until Tuesday the earliest, if you go pick it up in person. Cautare: d li90 īn categoria Acumulatori si incarcatoare dedicate - eMAG.ro
But if you really need a quick charge today, I can help you with a battery charge. Just hit me up via PM :)

Yes, they are consistent on every frame. ---------- Post added 12-03-17 at 08:43 AM ----------
Well, warranty is warranty no mater who takes the camera into service. The dealer in Romania is pretty decent and respects Pentaxians.
The pictures are still on the card, I will try converting them in camera to another format, see what I get. One thing is certain, though. I first saw the pixels while reviewing the pictures on the camera LCD. I always shoot RAW+JPEG, and as far as I deduces from past experience, the camera uses the JPEG for on screen review. ---------- Post added 12-03-17 at 08:48 AM ----------
I kind of doubt this can be a software issue. I am already running the latest firmware.
I have pondered whether the camera uses a separate memory space for storing the bitmap image produced by the sensor for compressing to JPEG. Maybe there is some faulty memory there. But I'm pretty sure it's a hardware issue.

Hello dear Pentaxians,
So I have this issue with my K-3 II. Last December I bought it second hand from an acquaintance, still under warranty. In January I took it out for a spin on a sledding day with the children, at a reasonable and well above the specified operating temperature for the camera. When processing the DNG's, I noticed a large purple blot near the center of the frame, several pixels wide. Odd, I thought, and snapped a picture of a blank wall, only to discover not one, but around 7 such spots clumped around a certain area. I took the camera to warranty and it came back ok.
Today I took it to my local photo gear store to try out the Sigma and Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 lenses. And while pixel peeping, lo and behold, fresh batches of dead pixels, purple and green-ish. Pulled out my laptop and started marking them on a full size, out of camera JPEG. The results are circled in the link below. You can click on the image and zoom to full size to see them in all their glory. Full Size In-camera JPEG
But the most strange fact came when I looked at the RAW file. Because eff logic and no dead pixels. In deep disbelief I cloned the markings from the JPEG to the RAW file in order to better check each area. Nothing appeared anymore. Don't believe me? Check the link below. Full Size DNG opened in PhotoShop, no processing
Needless to say, it's going back to the service center on Monday. But I am truly stumped. Plenty of dead pixels, but only visible on JPEG. How is that even possible.
I'm sharing this with you not to look for a solution. There can't be any except at the Pentax service center. But have any of you had the unfortunate experience of dead pixels? Raise your hand and be counted.

Well, I got a rather complex one from Lidl for around 7 EUR. I had previously played around with an aftermarket camera dedicated one - Micnova brand or whatever. It used a 12 volt battery, which would drain in a heartbeat and the range was rubbish. I couldn't even trigger the camera from 1m away in daylight.

Here's a quick hack.
1. Get any cheap universal remote.
2. Program the first code for SONY DVD Player
3. Test the D-Pad. All directions except up should trigger the camera.
Using this with excellent range on camera (6m and more) in broad daylight.

Just did. Also bought some wet/dry sensor wipes and a 49 mm lens cap to easily use the lens :)

Dear Ikarus & wlachan,
I am very glad to say that you were both right. Incredibly for me, the dust is actually on the sensor. I have never noticed it on my kit lenses, but on smallest aperture against the white refrigerator...
Thank you both for insisting :)
And yes, I have an incredibly dirty sensor. That's what you get for changing lenses on the run while chasing two small kinds. Going to buy a sensor cleaning kit right now.
PS to this lesson: Don't trust the in-camera dust detection system. It completely missed the huge ones.

Hello all,
Yes causey, I'm Romanian, but let's keep this in english :)
The lens was bought on a business trip in Taiwan, on Taipei Camera Street. To the best of my knowledge, the lense was brand new. The evening I bought it I was with a local coleague who should have gotten for me the international warranty card. Until now it has not reached me and I don't think it ever will...
Unfortunatelly, a retailer exchange is quite out of the question. As it is, the local Pentax representative is a small company that can handle only the most basic warranty situations. For the most serious, Germany is the way to go.
Dear wlachan, thanks very much for your advice. I will give it a try. I triple checked that the dirt is not on the sensor, it was my earnest wish that it was so... Just to clarify, is this the front retaining ring? And does it unscrew normally, or clockwise? |

Hello dear Pentaxians,
Maybe someone can help me with this conundrum...
Some months ago, I acquired a brand spanking new DA 40mm F2.8 SMC Limited lens. Lucky me. And recently I have noticed a rather... let's say huge piece of dust:
Unfortunately for me, it turns out the dust is actually inside the lens. On simple lens switching, it goes away. And upon close inspection against a blank wall with aperture wide open, the dust is clearly visible with its unusual shape.
And here is the best bit of all. In order to clean it, my local service needs to send it to Germany, in order to realign the optics inside (they claim). The cost for this operation? A measly 100 euro. Estimated, not definite...
So before I chose this desperate option, did anyone open up such a lens? Is there a way to partially open it and try to blow away the air with compressed air without misaligning the inside optics? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

One rainy morning, I went outside with my camera to buy cold medicine, Pentacon 50mm and extension tubes mounted on the camera. I noticed the hidden spider web and it's trapped bounty.
Tried like hell to capture decent pictures by hand (no tripod available). Juggeled with several apertures, ISO and exposure compensation values, in order to compensate for hand shaking. Some of them managed to be in exactly the right DOF region I was looking for, in order to capture the large water droplet.
