All my Pentax equipment: K-x body black, lenses, AF360FGZ flash, filters, hood, accessories Asking Price
$100 Item Location
San Francisco Item Description
I am making the move to 100% film, not by choice but by necessity because the film camera I want is a Leica and therefore not cheap. So I must sell all of my Pentax equipment to break even... everything will be shipped quickly and more importantly, packaged safely.
### Pentax K-x black body ($385): SOLD Pentax AF360FGZ Flash Unit ($190): SOLD Pentax Asahi SMC Super Multi Coated Takumar 50mm F1.4 ($125 —*REDUCED TO $105): I purchased this lens from KEH for $175 approximately six weeks ago. It includes the original Takumar 50/1.4 leather case with green felt lining, and the lens itself is in like-new, near-mint condition. A true beauty, this later-model 50mm doesn't have the same yellowing concerns as older models; however, even the older model Super Taks often have only mild or little yellowing. This is one of the best 50mm lenses ever, the build quality is fantastic and it's a joy to use. It includes the original Honeywell Pentax front cap and rear cap. With this lens I will include free lens cleaner spray bottle, travel size (nearly brand new, hardly used). Pentax Asahi Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 ($80 — REDUCED TO $75): This 50mm lens is one of the best 50mm lenses ever. It has a slightly warm color cast and takes gorgeous portraits. The lens is in excellent-plus condition. It includes an authentic original Takumar leather case with felt lining; however, the case is for a 28mm lens (the 50mm lens fits the case but the embossment on the top of the case reads 28/3.5 not 50/1.4 is all). With this lens I will also include a tiny screwdriver repair kit for lenses. Pentax m42 K-mount adapter, authentic Pentax brand ($25): SOLD B+W 49mm UV Filters MRC ($30): SOLD B+W 49mm Skylight Filter MRC ($30 — REDUCED TO $25): This filter is in excellent condition and includes the original case and box. "MRC" is a water and dust repellant advanced coating on some of B+W's nicer filters. Two (2) SanDisk Extreme SDHC 16GB card ($60 each, $120 both): SOLD San Disk Extreme SDHC 8GB card ($30): Ships with original packaging and box. 30MB/S and 200x Read/Write fast enough to handle 1080p video with no problems. Thanks. I was going to post them all in one post but I couldn't figure out how to put more than five pictures on a post, and I can't sell more than five items with only five pics. Either way not all of the items are immediately available; however, nearly all of them are.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
120 Color Film for Trade (Need B&W — will consider combination of 35mm & 120) Asking Price
Trade Item Location
San Francisco Item Description
I have nine (9) rolls of fresh (April 2012) Velvia 50 120 color film. ISO 50. This film was purchased two months ago and has been sitting in a mason jar in the freezer ever since. That's why the photo looks not so great. I pulled it out of the freezer, snapped a photo with my phone, and put it right back in the freezer.
There are also four (4) rolls of fresh (January 2012) FujiPro 400H 120 color film. ISO 400. Also brand new. Also stored in freezer. I do not have the boxes for this film. It's all being stored in the mason jar. 13 TOTAL ROLLS OF 120 COLOR FILM FOR TRADE: 9 Velvia 50, 4 FujiPro 400 BONUS: I WILL INCLUDE FREE $10 CALUMET WEB-ORDER SHIPPING COUPON FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DO A 1:1 TRADE FOR ALL OF THESE ROLLS.
I am looking for B&W 120 Film. I am looking for a fair trade of quality, fresh film. I prefer 120 but will consider a combination including 35mm film. I will not consider 35mm only. I would prefer to do a trade with just one person but if you want fewer rolls, maybe we can work something out depending on interest.
For 35mm only I'd consider a couple rolls of color film. But again, I prefer B&W 120. Ilford if you've got it. This film I have is really nice high quality film but I need B&W for my class.
Thanks.
(I APOLOGIZE IF FILM TRADES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE MARKETPLACE. I READ THE REGULATIONS AND DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING ABOUT IT BUT FIGURED FOR MY $20 DONATION TO THE SITE I'D GIVE IT A SHOT.) Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

I have a K-x body and a Pentax AF360 FGZ external flash unit that is "compatible with Pentax PZ, ZX, SF, LX, MZ, *ist, 645NII, 67II series cameras."
Is it possible to take full advantage of this flash with my K-x? Is there a better flash for my K-x? I'm taking a lighting class next semester and would rather sell this flash if it's not really compatible with my K-x.
1) Can I use Pentax AF360 FGZ with the K-x body?
2) Is there a better flash unit for the K-x?
It's a beginner class so they'll have us doing a little bit of everything, I imagine. I don't have any specific uses in mind.
Thanks.

I'm sorry. I think I was unclear. In fact I know I was.
When I described "looking directly into the camera" I meant removing the body cap and looking into the camera —*with the mirror down —*not through the viewfinder. When I look into the camera after removing the body cap, with the mirror down, I see dust on whatever is all the way in the back. When I look into the camera body I see the mirror on the bottom, something up top, and what I *think* is the focus screen all the way in the back. Whether that is the focus screen or not, that is where the dust or debris is.

I think it is on the focus screen. I can actually see the dust with the naked eye. It's on whatever is directly inside the camera when you take the lid off. It's not the mirror down below, or whatever is above that up top, it is straight forward in the back when you're looking directly into the camera. I can see the dust in the exact reversed position that I see it through the viewfinder (e.g. bottom right, top left).
Is that the focus screen? I don't really wanna mess with it if it's tricky unless it'll improve the photo and it sounds like it won't.

I understand a dirty viewfinder doesn't impact the photo, but my viewfinder has some really large distracting blemishes (dirt/dust, I don't know).
To clean the sensor I raise the mirror and use a blow thingy. Whatever those things are called. The bulb-like thing. Anyway to clean the viewfinder I've tried blowing air into the camera with the mirror not raised. I feel like this worked once but it hasn't worked since. The dirt won't budge.
Is there an easy fix or one that isn't too risky? Any suggestions? Also: what is the difference between cleaning the sensor manually like I described and using the dust removal function? Is it the same thing via two different paths or are you cleaning different things?
Thank you.

DA 55-300mm F4-5.8 ED
This lens includes the original box, paperwork, front cap, rear cap, lens cap, lens hood, and Pentax case with velcro strap. This lens is approximately six months old and I am the original owner. It takes fantastic photos; however, I've decided to use only prime lenses and those get expensive, so I need to recoup some of those costs. I used this lens regularly for three months and it has sat pretty much untouched for three months. I think that means it's time for it to find a better home.
The glass and everything are excellent. This thing is in like-new condition. The filters are also in great shape. The ND filter I used only once. The UV filter was on the lens regularly, of course.
$265 includes free shipping (CONTUS)
The filters are being sold SEPARATELY. They are not included in the $265. The filters both include the original cases.
$280 for the lens plus one filter shipped.
$295 for everything shipped, lens plus both filters. 58mm Filters
Hoya slim frame 58mm UV Filter: $21 includes free shipping (CONTUS)
Tiffen Neutral Density .6 Filter: $21 includes free shipping (CONTUS)

1) I'm not sure I totally understand the difference between distortion and CA. I know that CA has something to do with the purple fringes you sometimes see around contrasty light/dark areas, but I also notice blurriness in similar examples. Does CA cause blurriness? I thought that might have been camera shake (which surprised me b/c I had a 1/30 shutter speed for 15mm —*fast enough, right?) but now I'm guessing it might be CA.
2) The K-x is dreadfully slow with CA and lens distortion correction turned on. Like seriously painfully slow. But if it yields better images than Lightroom then for me it is worth it even if I miss some shots. Do you know if the in-camera processing for CA and distortion is baked into the RAW file or could the camera processing be "undone" via Lightroom? I never tried the CA correction on the K-x but I think they do have that in addition to the specific distortion correction.

What do you mean by kill the Kx?
I have an AF-360 FGZ with my Kx but after deciphering the flash user manual I don't think it's a compatible flash, unless you want to do it manually. Seems like it works only with 66/67 and 35mm film Pentax.
I'm not really sure, though. Consequently I've used the thing like twice but didn't know what I was doing so really I mounted it a few times and took some throwaway pics. I've got a lighting class next semester at school so hopefully I'll learn more then. But I have no idea what to do with this flash or other flashes with regard to the Kx. I'll be interested to hear what people say.
In the meantime what do you mean by kill/blow up your Kx?

My photography professor suggested shooting in RAW (duh) and to avoid any in-camera processing because there is nothing you can't do later in Photoshop or Lightroom.
Unfortunately Lightroom does not have a lens profile for the Pentax DA-Limited 15mm lens, and I'm wondering: In this instance should I let my camera handle distortion corrections or should I attempt it manually? This seems like an area where it might be best left to the camera to fix it, working with the assumption that Pentax cameras probably know how to handle correcting Pentax lenses.
My concern is that the camera will be making edits that can't later be undone, that the distortion edits will be baked into the RAW file as its captured and corrected.
Also how is all of this impacted by turning the camera vertically as opposed to horizontally?
Thank you for your feedback. I've learned a lot from these forums but still have so much to learn.
Thank you again.

What does the UV Haze Filter do to the lens? I thought they did nothing to pic -- really just prevent lens damage?

Sweet, thanks Twitch. That is the filter I want to buy.
Also can someone please explain to me the optics and why CPL has no impact on 15mm lens? I did not know that.
Finally are there any other filter recs for 49mm for those lens sizes? Like maybe a nice portrait filter for the 70mm.

THANK YOU EVERYONE. Few quick caveats.
I don't want the polarizer just for the 15mm. I will have the 15/35/70 mm lenses —*all 49mm mount, and my heart is NOT set on a thin polarizer. I just want the best polarizer that'll work well with all three of those lenses, and if my best bet is NOT a polarizing filter, what is a good all around filter so my skies don't get blown out?
Currently I have UV on all of them and that's it.

I have the 15mm/35mm/70mm from the Pentax limited line. It's a great street photography set if you want only three lenses and don't mind no zoom. Anyway I know they all take the same circular polarizer filter type, and that it has to be a special thin kind because of the built in lens hoods, etc, but I don't know exactly which type I need. I don't want to purchase the wrong thing. Typically I buy B&W filters but I am open to other brands. I just want SOMETHING to help.
Any advice?

This was taken today after the drop. It doesn't seem as sharp to me but that's probably my mind playing tricks on me. Certainly looks uniform left to right, though, in terms of focus, at least to my eye.

What does optical misalignment mean, and how do I look for it? Is it in the photos I take or looking at the lens itself?

I dropped my 70mm DA Limited lens. It had both the front and rear lens cap attached, and it appeared to land on the rear lens cap at about a 45-degree angle to the ground.
It appears to be working fine —*it focuses OK as far as I can tell — but is there something I should be on the lookout for? I don't really fully understand how lenses are built —*is there a focusing element or something else that could've been knocked out of place?
I use both manual and autofocus. With this lens I use more autofocus than manual probably.
Fingers crossed, holding breath.
