Surprise, surprise - thanks to Kerrowdown having to pass the baton on from Boundless, who was unable to host this challenge.
Congrats anyhow. hope you get to host in the future.
I have to admit, this is a much re-visited image and I'd like to see other interpretations other than my own.
DNG only, but there's a smaller jpeg preview below for you - My Files
Thanks for your participation

Hundreds of exposures to catch this Brown Thornbill, a regular visitor with a very strong voice for such a tiny creature.

Well the time has come, folks.
The biggest problem for me was that every submission had elements that I was hoping would be interpreted the way I
remember the scene on the day - other than the monochrome versions, of course!
Oh yeah - Kerrodown's penchant for titling his work - love it, thanks.
I have to give special mention to todd, who had two red-hot goes and came so close to P1, and Frank’s determination to
make me bleed from excessive scratching!
But, then along came Fdooch with his ‘old masters’ rendition that took it somewhere I wasn’t expecting, but has won the chocolates.
Congrats Fdooch - over to you.

Thanks, Des. Much appreciated.
They have become more common around here since the 20-30 year maturation of planted natives.
This little bloke has been visiting outside my home office front window for about 6 months, even thought bush he uses is a Rosemary.
I think home-base is around the side of the house in a dense pack of Lilly-pillies - not sure.

Thanks again to everyone.
This is an Ektachrome64 tranny from 1974, taken with a Spotmatic II and a Tamron 350mm (can't remember what aperture it was). This is Melbourne Australia taken from the observation level of a building that no longer exists - the National Mutual Centre.
Digitised with the K-3III and D FA 100 Macro in 2021.
I've always liked the composition, lighting and colour juxtapositions. Have mucked around with it pre-digitally, making various Cibachrome and b+w prints from it, and of course digitally with Photoshop, and I'm still looking for that special something.
Maybe it's not there, but anyhow, here it is for anyone who has ideas. Please have at it.
I suppose we'll run it for a week or so - let's see
Good Luck! https://www.mediafire.com/file/t6xv4gmq05txv19/_IMG2734_1.dng/file |

Here's an image that may just turn that frown upside down!

My attention was pointed this way via the regular emails from PF, so I thought I'd offer some support in the form of participation.
The vast blank space of water drove me to this, I swear.
So, just for fun I decided to add too much - sorry - but it definitely was fun.
Apologies to todd - sort of :):);)
Oh, yeah. It's all PS Firefly's (Generative Fill) fault!
Cheers

Still mucking about with the shots of the Orion Nebula. Trying to get better separation of the gas cloud colours, but losing edge wispiness.

I'm very impressed how well it performed, especially under very disturbed atmosphere and outer suburban light pollution.

Been mucking about with Image Transmitter 2 to see if it’s worth working with, so set up this scene.
This is a combination of 2 images in Photoshop, using “Auto Align Layers” and “Auto Blend Layers”, to achieve the depth of field.
Image Transmitter 2 works okay - sort of. You have to do a lot of in-camera setting up, before connecting, because of limitations it
places on you. Things like changing shutter speed and aperture can only be done with certain settings and ticking an obscure box inside IT2s
Preferences (on a Mac).
Even then it still may not play nicely.
But, it certainly helped in this scenario. Checking focus and modelling is a lot easier with IT2, rather than constantly going backwards and forwards to the camera, to remove the SD card, so well worth it in the end.
But it needs a lot of fine tuning, as discussed in the "K-3 III and Image Transmitter" thread.
I worked out the lens would way something like 1.4 Tonnes if scaled up, and with the body, over 5 Tonnes.
That’s obviously why they needed the crane!

I was literally gobsmacked, gg. Then the clouds came in and I can only wait to see how far it can be taken.

Thank you, Rob. The clouds have rolled in here, so it's a waiting game for me also.
Stacking is what I'm most looking forward to.
I'm new to that for astrophotography, so looking for guidance on that.

To wkraus, and others, of course.
There's a post in the "Post your K3 iii pictures" referring to practical use of IT2 you may be interested in.

Hi, W.
I probably should have read this a little more closely, since I've done a test with pixelshift and didn't have any problems opening them in ACR and further processing them. You say that RawTherapee has a problem with them. Unfortunately I'm having problems with RawTherapee!!. I can't get it to open attached hard drive folders at the moment - further investigation required!
But, I am getting full sized files into Photoshop via IT2.
Cheers
Andrew
Edit: Okay, finally got RawTherapee working, and yes, I agree there are only 3 frames getting into the program! It's not too noticeable, which tricked me, as I thought there would be a lot more picture information missing, making it quite obvious.
So, that may mean there are only 3 frames importing to Photoshop - Hmmm.

Hi, wkraus.
I've been following since you started this thread, but felt I had nothing to contribute/ask until now, following the IT2 K3II compatibility update. My experience with this version is similar to yours, but with different problems.
My biggest concern is getting IT2 to recognise the camera when I 'plug it in'. I have to jump through a number of hoops, in a particularly convoluted order, before that will happen. When it does finally connect, I must admit, the
camera operates in a reasonably acceptable manner. However, IT2 will lock up if the camera doesn't achieve focus, so that means shutting it down, then going through the whole process again.
I am on a 2017 iMac, running Big Sur 11.6.1, IT2 version 2.6.0
File transfer to the iMac has worked well, but, after noting your current problems, and trying to replicate them, I realised I have no idea how to get Pixelshift to work in IT2!!!
In fact I never knew it was possible.
Cheers
