Just finished a 12 days vacation in Alaska. Have heard that early September would have the best colors, but you need to bet on weather. It turned out we had rain/clouds almost all the days....However the big tundra terrain, mountains, and glaciers are still amazing.

Well here is my shoot of the big shiver plate hanging in the sky tonight, at north Florida.
The process might be more interesting: I only have a monopod, so I tied it to a chair, and further secured the whole assembly by rice bag and beer pack...no remote either, so I used 2s delay.
The pic is cropped to 1/9 of its original size, sharpened.
The full moon is too bright to shoot. Another pic with the same set up at different moon phase gives more details of the surface.

Another sunset at St. Marks National Wildlife refuge, FL
My wife and I were very amazed by the the blue-violet color of the lower sky.
After I took pictures, she said, 'Hmmm...people would think you Photoshopped you picture too much' ...

trying to catch the variation of color and light,
after tuning the color is close to what I saw by eye, but the composition seems too dull:o

I think St Marks is just slightly off the edge. Not much rain or wind here, but temperature did decrease a little bit.

In last Jan, sunrise time, cold
The mountain is located near the Yunnan-Tibet border, and is one of the sacred mountains of tibetans(never been summited, and climbing is forbidden since 2003 in the respect for religion). The main peak has an altitude of 6740 m(22112 feet)

Hi everyone, I just find this forum and then registered.
I am from China.
My first Pentax DSLR is istDL with 18-55, which I love a lot for the small rigid body and the good quality to price ratio(entry level machine with shoulder screen!).
Now I have another K200D with DA17-70 and 55-200.
I used to hiking and trekking and shoot the landscape. But there seems no mountain nearby...as far as I know it is a good place for wild life photographing here(especially birds). So I am thinking about equip myself with a tele lense. For DA 60-250, Sigma 100-300, 120-400, could you guys give me some suggestions? Thanks in advance!
