Sent my DA*50-135 off to CRIS, SDM going to sleep (wow), called the Pentax repair center to track the progress, Randy was extremely helpful, full repair under warranty took less than 3 weeks from the time I sent it off to getting it back, they replaced the motor and now she works like a charm.

Not yet, pentax repair center has it. I have had it almost a year and thought mine was ok but it recently started "going to sleep" on me, then I met another pentax shooter and we started talking glass, he let me use his 50-135 (while he was there with me) and his copy was brilliant, I couldnt take a bad shot with his lens, sharp fast focus just like a $1000 lens should while mine hunted some and started taking naps, mine got shipped out the next morning. I also drooled over the 16-50 but these forums helped me make a better choice, I got the tammy 17-50 instead, so a big THANK YOU to all of you fellow pentaxians for saving me around $600 on a POS.

My report, I took my K10 in on Jan 4th to get the water damage fixed, got a call from wolf camera today to tell me a brand new K10 was waiting for me at the store, I have looked it over good and if its a refurb I would never know, it looks brand new and cant see any marks on the lens mount, I really dont deal with wolf much anymore because they dont carry pentax but the extended warranties they offer seem to really work.

Thank you both, I hope they send me another K10 since I have the grip and extra batteries, but if I get the gift card I can add some cash and have a K20, the thing about the warranty.. I was supposed to take it in a while back but didnt want to give up my camera for a month ot two and I lost track of time, my warranty expired on Jan 4th, I took the camera in on Jan 4th just before the store closed.. WHEW!!!

I have a question, and I hope I put this in the right forum, has any ever bought an extended warranty from Wolf camera?, here's my deal. I took my (then) brand new K10D to sea world in 06, we were told it was too cold and there would be no splashing so we sat close for some better pics, well.. someone never gave Shamu the memo.. got splashed twice before I could get out of there, I kept using it and it seemed fine but had some water droplets in the lcd, I got my K7 on black friday so i sent the K10 in to have her fixed, its been 4 weeks so I called today to check on the status... I was told my camera was not repairable and was being sent to corporate for replacement. I asked if the replacement was going to be a refurb or ?????, the guy at the store said all those desitions are made by corporate and could tell me nothing more..
Does anybody have any idea what I should expect????

Yes it's very sad to send a camera away, just sent my K10 in on the 4th and I feel as though I lost a child.. as far as an upgrade a K20 might be good but I got a K7 for Christmas, put a grip on it and could not be happier.. what a camera.. but I'm still thumb sucking till my K10 gets back safely.

Shooting in my studio tonight with my gripped K7 and my 50-135, it seems like the focus assist beam hits on the lens hood, I had some blurry shots with the hood on, took it off and every shot after that was tack sharp, anybody else ever notice this?

Newbie here, has anyone ever bought or dealt with Cameta camera on ebay?, any problems, any good positives?. I was thinking of ordering the battery grip for my K7 + 2 batteries and a 16g card for $259.95.
any help with dealing with them would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks .

Scott Kelby's books are really good, he has a great sense of humor and he not only tells you how to edit photos, he tells you in every step why you are taking each step. Extremely easier with his writing style.

I have a 50-135 DA* lens, when the lens is set to AF should I be able to turn the focus ring or should it be locked in place?. I thought when I received the lens the focus ring seemed to be locked when in AF, but now it turns smoothly in AF or MF..
Thanks in advance for any help..

Took my trusty K10D to Seaworld San Antonio, since the weather was a lil chilli there was a rumor thar Shamu would not splash, so being the idiot that I am, my wife and I sat closer than we normally would.. Guess what?.. Someone forgot to message Shamu about not splashing, there sat my poor K10 soaking wet, not damp.. Soaked.. That was about a year ago, there are 2 water droplets inside the lcd but the camera never missed a lick.. maybe I just got lucky so please don't try this on purpose.. but I'm a Pentax fan for life after that..

The flash is perfect, not a scratch on it and works very well. I use off camera flash alot more than on camera so I no longer need it. Read the reviews on the 50-135, they are all correct.. best glass I ever touched, it's the reason I sold the 18-250, and I loved that lens..

because some of it is normal.. send it back to pentax and have then tighten it up to stop the creeping.. then we can all complain that the focusing ring is hard to turn...geeeesh.
