I had to do the same with both 150-450 lenses I owned (down to one now). Determined -1 on this one, and from using it rather than a chart and scale. so it was already darn close but just not perfect. It is now. :)
One shortcut I've used for a long time is a metal spray can. It can be paint, or cleaner or whatever. In my case it's been insect repellant, dark green can with white lettering. The directions on the back work great since they're always tiny crisp type and on a curve.
I set it outdoors out of direct sun at whatever I think would be the typical minimum distance I'd be using the lens*. Set single point focus on the exact center of that curved back, pick out a specific line of type, and take a few shots. Now zoom in on the camera back and it will be immediately obvious if it is either front or back focusing. Adjust then and there if needed, and repeat a few times to confirm.
This is way easier, faster, and more accurate IMHO than setting up a focus chart and measuring out a specific number of inches. It works great for me, YMMV.
*Macros or lenses I might be using very close, ie the H-DFA21, are an exception. I always allow a few feet of distance for them too.

I woke up one morning at Mirabib in the Namib to see my coffee pot has sprouted ears. A Cape hare that inspected my camp minutely

I too appreciate that PF, especially our little group has participants from all over the world. During the dead of our winter, I rely on the beach scenes and flowers from our friends in the Southern Hemisphere to brighten the day.
It's also nice to see where and how other people live outside of my little slice of heaven. Even mundane scenes of a local neighborhood in Poland or Sydney are interesting, because they are similar, but a little different to what I see in my own local towns and cities.
Finally, I've been shown some amazing places that only heighten my wanderlust.
I will admit that "It's almost the end of tomorrow " concept throws me off a bit, but it's nice that usually you folks from the future have posted a few nice pix for me to look at over my morning coffee.

This is one of the things that constantly amazes and intrigues me about these challenges. The fact that I am looking at shots from so many different parts of the world is fascinating. I find the whole different season thing pretty mind blowing too.

As a reasonably well known actor once said, "I'll be back". See you in August.

Silver lining!
I'm delinquent today. After 3 hours of baseball practice (I'm sparing you all more ball photos), I then puttered away the afternoon putting together prints for an silent auction Thursday night. I'm doing a bit of travelling this week so I have to get them in the hands of the organizer.
The left is an old Fav, and the right is one made with the SMC Pentax M 20mm f4 that I'm shooting this month - its skyrocketed in my Flickr interesting / fav's statistics after a solid Explore placing a few days ago.
