I like that it's actually lighter (10g) than my K-7!

Not sure how you feel about manual focus lenses but my 50mm f/1.4 is fun!

May I also suggest using a monopod? They help me get that little bit of extra stability and I don't feel bad about using the cheap ones as light walking sticks!

Couple tips (take um as you see um):
-Move closer if you can, assuming that 300mm is variable aperture, so the lens can get more light.
-Make sure shake reduction is on.
-Play with shutter speed, get it as slow as you can stand
-Turn up your in-camera noise reduction
-Roll your finger over the shutter button instead of jabbing it
You should be able to reduce your ISO a little bit to get rid of that grain.
As mentioned above, use an exif analyzer like the photoME program to analyze your photo's metadata for additional settings you may be able to change.

Hi everyone!
Haven't officially joined the Pentax family, but I will as soon as photokina (hopefully) drives down the K-7 a couple more bucks.
As I said, I hail from Rochester, or Rochestaah or Rochister depending on who you talk to. I'm an engineer by trade but I've always been interested in photography and I can't wait to give my new K-7 a test run!
I'm sure I'll have lotsa questions besides the ones answered by browsing through the forum and I'm encouraged because based on what I've seen, these forums are some of the friendliest around :)
That's it for me for now, I'll talk to everyone later!
