Sorry i think its a waste of ressources.
Yes the goPro is expensive. Yes it has its own issues, Yes it has its shitty user interface (i mean like really shitty)
But The resolutions and configurations ?
I would like to see 1080p 120FPS, or even 4k in 30 or (salivating: 60 fps)
10m watertight ? Sorry i will not wear something like that for snorkeling, nope not once.
The only thing i might hope is better is the batterypower, because this can sometimes be a little bit of a bummer when it comes to the goPro
i like the design, but the specs are rather mediocre :(
I was thinking of buying my own Hero3 Black, the i saw this annoucent and was like"(wohoo lets have a look" and then the almost typical Pentax-style disappointment comes :/
Sorry if you want to compete in this segment you just have to deliver.
There is a reason while there are so many goPros and only so little other manufactures. (and its not only because of the perfect viral marketing)

i call BS
We do have a variety of threads where it was shown that a number of DA and Ltd. are quite capable of producing outstanding results on a 35mm Film... Not everone, but some are.
A FF could easily get an Crop-Feature implanted, to make all lenses at least "usable"
For me right now, its about the lenses, which i really find a bit "lame".

18 Month ?
That is an COMPLETE update cycle for most technological devices.
The arcitectural planning of a big commercial building is done with around the same time.
Big Grid-Providers ( Areva, ABB, GE, AEG etc.) can plan AND construct a whole grid-node/substation in this timetable.
Another example ?
The beijing aquatic center ( swimming pool for 2008 olympics) has been planned and designed in less then 3 month.
"My random wishes" arent that random compared to other companies or other people here in this exact forum. So i might not be alone with them.
Ok, because iam located in germany, i cant write anything about any other place in the world? Maybe one of the locals should explaing how the real situation differs from what i have written.
The Roadmap itself is useless, you are right, but it means that there should be more communication, even a one-directional communication would be great.
For example if you look at the roadmap, what might be the differen between FA and DA ( now, in digital age), what is a DFA, does DA in roadmap means DA* or just DA ?

Another problem i have are the BIG annoucement Pentax makes and then it "just" a mini-tweak K-5 II, or a Q-10....
Remeber the K-01? I didnt bought one, because i didnt needed one, but honestly, not many people bought them, because if they had pentax hadnt canceled this projekt this fast.

For me its almost certain bye bye
the lack of FF itself is not the immidate problem, but for me it shows the Symptomes with Pentax.
We are always "assuming" there there is something "behind" the next corner.
Since i got my k20 it was like " hey, there will be FF"
And there are so much things which needs to be adressed....
1. Teleconverter( a really working one)
2. DC-Motor = that thing might be faster then SDM but its FAR away from beeing really fast(at least as far we can see it in the 18-135)
3. almost all lenses could need a upgrade (without some "double charge" )
4. What is this K5-Upgrade? Not even a better Processor or a better SD-Slot....tilting screen, better video etc. not to talk
5. Tethering......(nothing more to say here)
6. IF EVER a FF from pentax sees the light of the day it will be 2500€ and the specs of the D600...
7. we see where R&D ressources go ( funny 360° camera)
8. please stop this " a new product needs 18month for development"-talking in 18Month you can design/develope 3-6 lenses, and dont be so overly protective, designing of a new lens isn't magic, it still follows some rules.(Maybe for a super-mega-über-FF-Killer-DSLR)
9. 560mm, wow nice, still extremly expensive and according to some user its a quite cheap design....
For me its the same like we heard from hoya, just a bit more smiling and a bit more "pseudo" caring.

Well the funny thing is alomost everything we were hoping for was dismissed :S
1. The Pentax USA Boss doenst know what Metz is doing? -> Nice fail
2.Customer Communication ?
->Finally something, but i thing we should wait until somebody get a real answer translated by this mysterious "fluent japanese" person.
3.Weather-sealed primes ?
-> Nothing in the work? Seriously Pentax what is "in the work"? Well is anyone at work at all?
4.Hackability ?
-> Again you didn't thought about that ? Well of course nobody of them uses any Nikon oder Canon Camera, so he doenst know that some nerd gadget like tethering even exists( pure irony)
5. APS-C vs. FF
-> Wow, that was awesome, so again they fool themselfs in being competitiv in APS-C :lol: and that 645D is their " larger" sensor....
-> With CaNikon i can by a D7000 and slowly build a expensive, but first-class lens-lineup in full frame, and i am even able to use it on the D7000, then one day i can buy an old used D600 oder 5D etc. and iam perfectly fine...
-> Pentax things that if i want something bigger than APS-C is will just invest 15k in the blink of an eye.... (you cant be serious about that......)

I didnt ignored them, infact i did said something about them two or three posts ago.
1. "justifiable homicides" increase, no matter how often you rephrase it, more poeple died because of firearms ( but ok they "right people died anyway)
2. you think that these two individual things are interconnected in an antiproportional way, but many western states got decreased crime-rates, without a huge build up of weapons, so there might be other reasons (beside firearms)
3. i mentioned what my problem is around 5 times now, it is not the firearm itself, it is its overproportional presents in the society.
4. Stop that stupid "Kum Ba Ya" talking, i know enough that this is not the case for most of this world, so stop bla blaing around and THINK about the things i wrote or just dont take part in this discussion
5. my opinion is based and adjusted to facts i know and things i didn't knew before, in opposit to you i try to understand what are your reasons and arguments and try to think about this topic your way and provide some way a change might be applicable.

I suggest to make a poll with severel things which some/we want.
When we have a good amount of people who answered the poll we can ask one of the "japanese guys" to email the "List" with its results to Pentax Japan in a nice, correct and well written Email.
Everybody has 5 votes for the people who can't decide what is "most" important :)
