Your sound clip made me scramble for my K-7 and thankfully it does not make that noise.

I would love to own an extra accessory for my camera but these kind of prices are only really justifiable if you're a pro and make a living out of selling underwater pics....or you're very rich.

I can already get the AF-2 but the extra 100 euros in relation to the AF-1 is holding me back. ......... There's an economic crisis at every scale:(

Sorry for reviving this one but can anyone confirm that the Metz 58 AF-1 has a metal hotshoe?
I see many pictures on-line and it seems to have. I would just like it confirmed, preferably by someone who has one.

Cheers,

Ignoring noise, is the K-5 much better then the K-7?

In the end there will be pluses and minuses on both sides of the spectrum. However, I think the issue here is how well do you know how to handle your camera and how do you get the most out of it. If you can master these aspects, then forget about every new model that comes along and only think about a potential buy once the need arises.

Hi everyone,

That is indeed helpful and my mind, after reading this, is almost made up.

Thanks a whole lot.

Thanks. Will check the thread. The Metz is about another 100 euros than the Sigma but still less 100 than the pentax. Decisions, decisions......

Thanks for the reply. Specifically, I was thinking of the SIGMA EF530 DG Super Flash or the Metz mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital.

I'm in the market for a a flash unit for my K7. My initial choice was for a Pentax AF 540FGZ. However, on checking the prices there seem to be some viable cheaper alternatives from SIGMA and Metz.
Can anyone please tell me if the clones work just as well or should I beg, borrow and steal and get the 540?

Thanks

I have been around these forums for a quite a while now and being a Pentax owner of long (I still have my 35mm Z1 and now have the K7 as well) I thought I'd better take a more active role in cyberspace. So here I am hoping to learn from all of you.

I leave you with an iconic picture from Lisbon near the Jerónimos Monastery.
