Hi ronniemac, how did you make out with the 50mm f1.1? I'm considering getting one for my GXR as well. Any clearance issues? Happy with the results? I still use my GXR for travel, when lugging the K-1 is just too much of a handful. Such a great little camera.

Just got back, with my K-1 in hand. Fantastic unit. It was an original K-1, that the previous owner had upgraded to to Mark II. If you can believe it, the shutter count is only 1,399, and that's after I did ~50 test shots. I assume the shutter count resets after upgrade. Talking to the leasing company rep that sold it to me, the original owner passed away. His wife returned the camera, as it was on a lease. I think someone goofed, as this guy must have intended to keep it, if he sent it off for Mark II upgrade.
Looking forward to finally being full frame. I've been lucky enough to collect a decent pile of full frame glass over the years. First up, the three amigos, followed by the 50mm f1.2
Appreciate the guidance. Good times ahead. Look forward to being more active on the forum once again. ---------- Post added 02-08-19 at 11:52 AM ---------- Wow. I just found the gentlemen's name was still set up as the Owner in the camera setting. A quick google turned up his obituary. The picture they used for the obit write up, shows the gentlemen holding this very camera. It's found a good home Herman, RIP.

Gathering up a bag of stuff to take with me tonight. Thanks for the feedback all. I'm hoping it's all good.
It's a K-1 M3, with 28-105mm kit lens for $1700 Cdn (~$1300USD) Missing box and battery charger....but still looks like a pretty great price.
Fingers crossed!

Greetings all, I haven't been very active the past few years on the forum, but hoping to change that.
I'm going to look at a second hand K-1 Mark II tomorrow morning. It's a leasing company that got it back off lease, and is selling it as is. The price is very good, likely worth taking a risk on.
I'm going to have an opportunity to test the camera out. Take some test shots. I currently own a K-5, so I know this is a material step up.
Appreciate some thoughts on what to look out for. As this is off lease, I'm assuming it was an early release mark II, as it only came out a year ago.
I plan on bringing a laptop so I can take a pic, and use the PF forums tool to check the shutter count.
Thanks all! ---------- Post added 02-07-19 at 04:40 PM ---------- Idea thread...to be edited
Consolidated suggestions:
- Bringing a screw mount and SDM lenses
- Bring SD card and laptop, so I can check shutter count
- Bring dust bulb/blower
- Bring a spare battery, just in case theirs is dead
- Inspect body for physical damage (drop?)
- Coupling pings on bottom of batter grip
- Covers / doors
- Lens release button springs back
- All buttons bounce back when pressed
- Turn all dials, check for grit/ease of movement/locking
- Multiple SD cards to check both slots
- Shoot in all modes
- Sensor dust check
- Check mount
- Put in Live View, SR on, confirm image is stabilizing

Great shots, thanks for sharing. Making me homesick, I grew up about 45 minutes from these spots, moved away 16 years ago, but get back, as much as I can. I always make an effort to get down to the South Shore.

I picked up a used teak dresser at a yard sale for $10. I keep it in my home office. Lined the drawers with foam, keep a few moisture bags in there for good measure. Keep most of my gear handy, and pull out what I need to travel with. Like you, LBA has gotten to a point that it's impossible to carry it all. Time for a massive sell off one of these days. The excuse that, "I really don't need it right now...but it would be glorious on full frame someday.....", is getting old...might have to face the realities, and purge!

Mine requires a +10 adjustment on my K-5. Fairly please with the results after that adjustment though.

Couple from today with my 50mm A12 module. Love this camera more and more all the time. On vacation I find I'm grabbing it more often than my K-5, just so much easier to lug around. Boy at Halls Harbour by D.Misner, on Flickr FamilyatHH by D.Misner, on Flickr

I've got a Eye-Fi 8Gb Pro card, and Samsung Galaxy S3 with the Eye-Fi Andriod app on it. I shoot in RAW+ and have the card set up to transfer only the jpegs to the phone. It's pretty slick how well it works, been running with it all vacation, with my card in the my Ricoh GXR.
Just throwing it out there, as a cable-less solution.

The 200, nice. I just purchased a 20mm f2.8 last week.....and you are partly to blame....with your recent posts showing off what it can do. Fine lens.....now i'll have to go looking for the 200mm. :)

Landed a mint Pentax-A 20mm f2.8 on Wednesday. Local Kijiji seller posted it, he'd bought it new in the late 90's for a trip to Alaska, had only used it a couple of times. Still had the original box. $500 seemed fair, considering the condition, and benefit of being able to see it in person, prior to buying. Gentlemen said he's paid over a $1000 for it, when he bought it new. Didn't realize it was such a pricy prime back in the day. 20mm is a sweet spot FOV for me, and I like the small prime size. Infinity focus beyond 6 feet is pretty sweet....just point it, and shoot it. Fingers crossed I'll get to try this gem out on full frame digital someday.

Great shot, which lens out of your fine arsenal was used? My guess, the 85mm...but maybe the 50mm f1.2

What make everyone sure this is a Pentax Canada sponsored ad? Did I miss something? Looks like it might just be a portfolio filler fake ad this guy made up. Still amusing...forwarded the link to a buddy of mine who's just upgraded to the K-30 w/ 18-135mm WR combo.

Welcome to the forum gc. Plenty of Canadians here, are a few fellow Bluenosers. I live in Ontario now, but spend a few weeks a year, dragging my family back home to experience the beauty of what I will always call "home".

Have fun with it, take far to many pictures, experimenting with different settings. I've been shooting with a DSLR for about 7 years now and I still only keep about 10% of what shoot. I like to experiment, and toss the extras. You're not wasting film.

I usually drag out my Sigma 70-200mm and DA*300. Depending on my distance and if I want single or group shots, I use both. DA is great for WR, Sigma is great to have the zoom range, as the action changes. Throw on a 1.4x or 2x TC and you've got good reach, and still have respectable speed.

I should be....but I just can't help but blow the budget on this new GXR system. Somehow I thought I was saving money, by taking advantage of the Henry's fire sale....this system is adding up. Body, 28mm, 50mm, M Mount, Ricoh brand case...and now just made a deal to buy a used 15mm Voigt and VF-1. It's such a fine little system though.
My hope is that some of my duplicate focal length FF compatible glass I've got, jumps up in value by 25% when a FF body finally gets released. That should help partially fund a body.....even if I should have sold it ages ago. Seriously, how many 50's does one man really need?

Still a great little camera. I picked up one a year or so ago, just to play with a TTL ring flash I've got....works great. Grip is a nice selling feature, allows you to leverage AA batteries. Good luck with the sale.

I PM'd kivis regarding his unit....but in case it's already gone, I thought I would put a post in this thread. If anyone else is having buyers remorse and is interested in selling their Q (and shipping it to Canada), please PM me. I want to join the club, and these deals just don't come up for us Canucks.
