Went out last evening with the intention of using the ND400 to get some long exposure stuff as the sun was setting. Unfortunately I brought the wrong step up ring. A 40.5mm ring just doesn't fit a 39mm lens thread, no matter how much you curse it. Managed to get something useable in spite of myself.

Some excellent urban abstracts there Christine. The lens obviously worth having, for interior shots like that. Looking at some of the other shots (e.g. the skyline shots) I suspect the Sigma 8-16mm might have been a little better but what an awkward package it would be with the adapter.

Contax G 90/2.8 is hard to beat for quality and value. You should get a good quality adapter for it, like Metabones G to NEX which is about $130 on top of ~$250 for the lens.
If money is no object and you are in love with Leica, Summicron 90mm ASPH is very very nice. I managed to pick one up at a bargain price locally:

A couple more from tonight. Taken with my new Nex 5n. The first is taken with the Super Takumar 28mm f3.5 lens, the second with the 16mm F2.8 E-Mount lens.
I can't wait until the morning. I'll be spending the day putting the Nex 5n through the paces shooting up in the mountains.

As part of our trip to Spokane we visited Manito Park, which contains several different gardens, including a Japanese garden and Duncan Garden. Duncan Garden is a formal English style garden that includes a fountain and a gazebo. More pics on my blog. All pics w/5N/kit zoom.
Caught the duck just as it was slipping into hyperdrive. ;)

Experiments with ultra shallow DOF.
Basically, I took the Nokton 50mm f1.1, and mounted it using the Hawk's Factory helicoid adapter to achieve near macro close focus, and crazy shallow DOF.
I love the swirly out of focus look:

I just came back from a great road trip to Oregon coast and Northern California.
A beautiful country, amazingly green. I was hoping for more Rhododendrons,
but came back with a different kind of images :)

"Doughnut" bokeh - just love it!
For some reason, I really like this image taken on a recent trip to Wellington - sunlight hitting a rock at Harcourt Park (this is where they filmed the Isengard scenes in the Lord of the Rings films):

I have to say that having taken quite a few sunset pictures with lenses like Pentax DA 15ltd, Pentax DA 12-24mm, Zeiss 18/4 ZM, etc, I have never before gotten colours like these.
