Even if the $50k (or $22k) camera gives you far more for the extra money, that's still completely out of reach for most people, it doesn't make the DSLR any less attractive.
That puzzles me too. Maybe there is. Fact is this cheap cinema cam doesn't exist now. The first of it's kind will be the Red Scarlet (release in june), starting at 3k+.
I wonder why people get so upset about others asking for improvements in video. It's like we're stealing their right for better still quality instead

With the many posts I see of unintentional bumping on wheels and buttons (wth are these people, octopuses?), that would be a dangerous feature :D
Looks like it has been fixed in the latest firmware.
The frame rate is greater on video mode, it's likely the camera can't cope with two simultaneous outputs.

I know you're already under the hammer here, but you really shouldn't be testing things out at the event. You should be aware of the camera's performance in the situation and prepare for it, I'm surprised you didn't know the K20D was not a stellar performer indoors.
I've experienced the green light blinking/lighting up to confirm focus but not firing the shot on the K100D, but it comes without the beep.
Btw, AF in the K7 is greatly improved vs K10/20, I'm guessing you'd have noticed that too.

True, but lenses with Quick-shift act like the AF is decoupled when focus is not moving.

High ISO on the K100D really looks much better than on the K10D. I have no fear of using 1600, even going up to 3200 when needed. The grain looks very nice, not like digital blotches, and color is good, you just lose some dynamic range.
The K10D (GX-10 in my case) is a whole other story. Shooting at ISO 800 could ruin colors and make for horrible images. That's one of the main reasons I never went past 6000 shots on it in 2 years.

Same here. I was gonna buy the K20D, I waited and waited and waited, until it reached $699, then I was set for it. But the k7 rumours were heating up and I found I couldn't get the K20D anymore knowing there would be a much better body right around the corner. When I bought the K7 the K20D was ~$569 in BHphoto, but I'm happy I paid double that for the K7 instead! It rocks (got it today )!

Anything on the mirror would affect focusing and metering (I think). You can buy focusing screens with marks on them, either from Pentax (PENTAX LL-80 AF Divided Matte Focusing Screen - Official PENTAX Imaging Web Site) or others like Katz Eye.
It already does, if you happen to own a D-BG4 grip.
It's already possible, it's called hi-speed sync. You lose a bit of power but it works, FP mode on the Sigma EF-530 DG Super (don't know what it's called on the AF540, but it's there).
Menu, page 2, Interval Shooting (K20D and K7) :)
My request would be for external flash control in-camera (groups, exposure bias), like Nikon's system. And a built-in wireless transmitter!

Really? Have you ever put your feet in an ad agency, design or graphics/illustration or movie studio? Macs find their place there for very good reasons: OSX is way more stable than windows will ever be, it comes with very capable software from the box, it has effective color management and great hardware, including high quality IPS panels, all packed in a tight and good-looking form. It's made to work. The sleek UI improves productivity, it's not for the looks - what you say just goes to show that you never used it.
you don't have a clue. please, why are you even arguing over this subject? everybody has already said apple+pentax is a bad idea, thanks for coming in.

Exactly. Billboard prints routinely go as low as 20dpi, and even lower for facade covers.

Everybody knows Pentax's AF is not quite up to the competition, nobody is denying that. But you seem to misunderstand the limitations of AF.C, If the D3, D300 or whatever camera can get it's full FPS in AF.C it's just ignoring focus in some of the shots, or using predictive focusing, which Pentax doesn't have.
So, what did you want to say after all? If you need faster AF, you should move to the system with faster AF, whatever brand it is, it's simple. There is no "marketing trick" in the K7 specs.

GPS: geotagging.
Wi-fi: tethered shooting, continuous studio shooting without bothering with cables, instant sharing on the internet (live coverage?)
Most mp3 players have cheap signal converters and general hardware, the iPod uses (mostly) quality parts and has great s/n ratio (the "classic" or 5g is better than the touch). Get a decent headphone for it! :D

Why would you need new lenses for video?
I don't see the advantage the GH1 has here.

That 1/2 price dedicated HD camcorder won't get any close to the 5D in image quality, noise, color rendition or DOF control. You don't seem to be aware of the huge difference, you can't match movie quality from a DSLR with a camcorder under $10.000 (that is, until the Red Scarlet arrives, possibly under $3000). And AF is irrelevant for filming, you can easily get cheap old manual lenses, not the case for pro movie cams. http://redgrabs.com/izzy/ |

the oly looks like a great camera, but let's see: K-7 vs e-620
pros:5.2fps - 4.0fps
max 15 raw - max 5 raw
ISO6400 - ISO3200
100%VF - 95%VF
77-seg meter - 49-seg meter
11-point AF - 7-point AF
AF assist - pop-up flash assist
5 frame bracketing - 3 frame []
shutter 1/8000 - 1/4000
x-sync socket - n/a
mirror-lock up - n/a
movie mode - n/a
3" 920k px LCD (wb adjust) - 2.7" 230k cons:$1299 - $799
670g - 465g hmm. right. That looks like a spanking :D
but the pricing says it all. The K-7 is only a wonder for us pentaxians, it's not that far ahead.

Worse than the artifacts is the stuttering, is that frames repeating or what? Hopefully 720p looks better.
