New improved technology - terriffic, New physical designs - interesting, Functionality - more to come, Upgrade to the K5 - yet to be proven. Not sure I like what I am seeing yet - BUT glad to see Pentax (or whom ever they are today), trying to be inovative and a leader in the market once again! To me its a first stab and I like the attempt. BUT hopefully they are reading all the comments and toughts of everyone and will listen to the people that keep them in business.

Personally I was looking to purchase a second K5 and trade in/sell my backup K7, but with the rumbling of a new DSLR I held off. The K01 is interesting - but yet too new and sounds like somewhat limiting compared to the existing K5. Currently I shoot Youth Sports indoor and outdoors. I was hoping for a faster shooting camera (fps 7 to 9), faster/more accurate auto focus, and another upgrade to the sensor like the upgrade from K7 to the K5. I typically shoot Manual only on everything so not looking for a movie camera that can do slow motion and or a camera which has 81 focal points. I am looking for an impovement in what I consider the basics.

For now will purchase a K5 backup.

Keep up the passion and let the manufacturer know what you see is needed as the next steps. Enjoying all the discussions. :)

I have to use a monopod. I have a bad habit of flinching on the first shot. But
my shots are similar using my K7. Purchase a diecent monopod. I shoot @ 400 mostly since 800 tends to start bluring in the K7 when the photos are enlarged some. But with the K7 I always have to sharpen the photos during development. That helps as well.

Now with the K5 I shoot up to 1600 to 3200 and have good success.

Good to hear its not just me!

Have a great one!

Adam, Wish you would have published this earlier, but glad you did it anyway. Like "ubuntu_use"r stated it was a very good read!

Little history. I shoot a K5 and K7. Have a pentax 50-135. Problem lens!! Back focuses on 4 different pentax bodies. Sent in twice (Arizona I guess), and nothing was fixed and they will not give details as to what they did except for cleaning it. BUT Still a Pentax fan for 40+ years and still fighting going to the Dark side (Canon or Nikon). I purchased a Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX APO DG, but does not have the OS feature - to take the place of the Pentax lens above based upon the performance of the Sigma 100-300 f4 lens I bought for out door sports. AF speed is a priority for me. Agree with you conclusion between the Tammron and Pentax lenes you compared. The Sigma 70-200 lens working with the new sensor in the K5 I am now able to shoot indoor Basketball with out flash. It is a work horse for me right now. This lens is also great for youth sports on the smaller field.

Thanks I will try to keep in touch with your articles.

Greetings! In my search to gain more knowledge in my photography I came accross the Pentax forum. What a great idea. I may be a little slow, but really like the idea of trying to brainstorm with other shooters.

I have been shooting Pentax equipment for over 40 years. For over 30 years shooting several different K1000 film cameras. Finally wore it out shooting my kids sports. Learned about the K100 DSLR from the Home Network channel and loved the idea of being able to use my old lenses on this new camera. Next moved up to the K10 - then the K20 and now the K-7. Each move I learned more and more and each move the equipment can now better handle all the Sports Action shots.

Yet I want to learn more and get better. So to just open things up here - - whom else shoots youth and professional sports action? Would love to hear what, when, where and how your Pentax equipment and you shoot away?! My ears are always open and would love to share what and how I shoot (right or wrong).

Glad to be here. Hope to hear back from someone.
