Just got mine a couple weeks ago -- loving it! Really makes me want to get out there and take pictures.

Trip to the Oregon coast last weekend:

Thanks everyone! Such a great trip. I'd never really done the Sol Duc area before, always blew past it on my way to the coast or the Hoh but wow, it's pretty impressive. In a short (.8 mile) hike you get rainforest experiences similar to the Hoh or Queets, plus streams and waterfalls, and it's only about 40 mins from Port Angeles. Pretty awesome.

For some reason Flickr's not showing my full EXIF info but I didn't use any filters on that shot (although I did use a 6-stop Hoya filter on the last two). I shot it with a Voigtlander 20mm 3.5 (at f/10.0, ISO 200) on my K-5 IIs, adjusted in Lightroom (I'd need to look at home to see exactly what PP I did; I don't think it was anything fancy).

Well done!

Great photos, and hilarious craigslist story. Cool to see the combination of a workhorse K1000 and the Nokton (the beautiful model doesn't hurt either). ;)

Some friends (fellow photo nerds) and I took a little photo safari out to the Olympic Peninsula last weekend, visiting the Hoh Rainforest, some coastal beaches, and the Sol Duc hot springs area. Amazingly we didn't even get rained on!

Landscape Wildflowers on Mt. Rainier

We had one sunny day and one misty one camping on Mt. Rainier last weekend. The sunny one was glorious but the misty seemed the best for getting up close and personal with the wildflowers. I'm not a true macro shooter like lots of you guys, but it was fun to try some close up work.

There's a quote from John Muir at the Paradise Visitors Center that says Rainier's meadows are "...the most luxuriant and the most extravagantly beautiful of all the alpine gardens I ever beheld in all my mountain-top wanderings." I can believe it.

Wow, impressive images. (Where do you find these girls anyway?)

I love the first one, and the (17th? Might want to break them into more than one post ;) ) is also really dramatic. Also great to see more from the A 50 1.7. Love that little lens. Well done!

Love these. I'm with Frogfish: the first series is great. Reminds me of a vintage '60s shoot of Marianne Faithful or someone.

Confused, puzzled, whatever you want to call it, all I'm calling out is what seems like inconsistancy in comments from one post to the other.

The OP could say for sure but I suspect that there are multiple different treatments going on for these images (at least that's the impression I've gotten from past posts), so I guess I was looking at each on its own merits.

And as far as getting feedback or not, point taken, but do you really think it's zero sum - either just a bunch of 'likes' or detailed, maybe nit-picky, criticism? That seems kinda lame, imo. I guess I thought maybe it was more like wading in vs. being chucked into the deep end.

Apologies for hijacking a thread. Just making a couple meta observations along with my own feedback.

Another great effort!

I have to say I'm a little confused by some of the feedback you get vs. what I see in response to other threads here. I'm always intersted to check out your stuff because you seem to try (not sure the right way to describe this) to create images that are different or innovative. The subjects, poses, compositions, post-processing - it seems like you're pushing for something more than just a successful exposure. And then they nick you on technical details that, to my eye, matter less than the whole. (There's another recent thread, 'Simply Alluring', with a great shot that totally missed focus, but no one seemed to have a problem with it. Go figure.)

I'd agree that the focus could be crisper on some of the shots but for the ones where it matters (like #5) it's there; the ones where it doesn't, with the hazy light and muted tones, I don't miss it.

Anyway, that's my $0.02. Keep posting (and that's not just because you're a fellow Seattlite)!

I like this one a lot but the focus seems off to me (or maybe my eyes are getting old :) ). The eyeliner, strands of hair, etc., look a little fuzzy. But beautiful subject, great pose and the B&Ws are lovely.

Agreed, all great shots. I like the low contrast look. It'd be nice if the fourth one was a hair sharper but not sure if that's a hair worth splitting. :)

Man, if she's not the most beautiful I'm curious to see who's in contention!
