The best advice I can give myself, as well as anyone else, is to take pictures. As a photographer, as with anything else in life, the best way to get better is to practice. Even if you only have a camera phone with you (because you forgot your camera in the mad scramble to get out of the house with the kids, spouse, etc.), take some pictures so that it continues to drive you to see things in a "how would this make a good memory through photography" lens. However, also remember to just enjoy some of the moments with your family so that not only do you have the pictures to remind you of the wonderful time you had, but you will have had the wonderful time with them instead of just seeing them having fun.

Everyone,
Thanks for the welcome. My name is Dan and my wife and I bought a K-x kit in April (55-300 kit). Looking forward to getting more into photography, but need more time in my days. Looking forward to hanging out around here a little more and learning a lot.
