Sorry to hear about this Jennaann.
Since I first started reading about the lens release button issue, I have kept a large paper clip in my camera bag (just in case). :)
I also read that if you keep your finger pressing on the button while attaching/removing the lens helps prevent this problem from happening. This way the pin is not sliding against the lens as you turn it, and the pin won't "snap" into the lock position. The pin snapping into the lock position is what concerns me the most!

He seemed fine to me. He and his wife were on an extensive western US tour in their motor home, and made a detour to see Alex De Grassi. Afterwards, they were headed down to Death Valley to see the SuperBloom.
He is still shooting Pentax (K-20D, I believe), and is saving up for the K-1. He said he has quite a collection of film-era glass.

I went to a concert at Yuba College in Marysville, CA in late February to see Alex De Grassi & Michael Manring perform.
While getting my camera gear ready, the guy sitting next to us asked "Is that a Pentax?" "Indeed it is!", I said. We hit it off after that, talking all things Pentax or course.
Rick asked if I visit Pentax Forums. Turns out, Rick is RioRico!
Here are a couple of pics from the concert if anyone is interested.

Another (minor) advantage of the K-5 over the K-x is the support of a cable shutter release.

I just bought a Pentax ME Super at an estate sale for $35. The best part - attached to it was an SMC Pentax-A 1:1.4 50mm lens. :D:cool:
Camera has a few dings on the base, but appears to be in good working order.

Hold on - that picture of the K-5 body looks like the teleconverter mount broke and is still on the camera.
It doesn't look like the K-mount came off of the camera.
Have you tried pressing the lens release button on the K-5 and try twisting the broken mount off with your fingers?

Mike,
I had the same exact thing happen with my K-5 a month after I purchased it. I was using it all day and had taken at least 150 shots. Near the end of the day I turned it on and had the same problem you described in the original post. Turning off the camera had no effect! I removed the battery and let it sit for about 1 minute. I then put the same battery back in, and it powered up normally and conituned to work fine after that.
Fortunately, this is the only issue I have had so far with the K-5. At the time I was using firmware v1.03 and it had a shutter count of 1050.
Good Luck.
Ray
edit: I should mention that I was NOT using Live View at the time of the lockup or at any time that day.
