Need advice on iPhone camera app with manual settings and panorama stitching app.

Hi.

I need a camera where I can lock (exposure, ISO, WB) values. I would like to have a simple way to lock (and tune them further if needed) automatic values. I am using ProCam 6 but not quite satisfied with it:
  1. Image quality with TIFF is lower than what the standard iPhone camera provides

  2. Going into full manual is bothersome – I need to manually tune all automated parameters to make them fixed (I probably missing something here though)

It turned out iPhone doesn't have an alternative to excellent Google Camera when it comes to panoramas (Android doesn't have it either LOL anymore – these pricks moved to swiping crap as well with Pixel 3). Guided mode Google Camera had is a perfect match for how I am using panoramas: link1 link2 link3 etc.

Unfortunatelly, I couldn't find any panorama stitching app for iPhone to overcome this – there were AutoStitch and Photosynth before, but they are removed from Apple Store after iOS 11. There is great Affinity Photo, but
  1. It is for iPad only

  2. It only supports one projection – it is really nice, yet I would love to see other projections as well

May be I am missing something and there's an alternative?

It looks like they are stagnant as well: Pixel 3 is just barely better than Pixel 2 at best, iPhone basically caught it up, Samsung is in that league too, etc.

Samsung S7 again + rare example of civil russian baroque (sometimes named Нарышкинское барокко after boyarin Naryshkin who ordered this piece). Petr I (better known abroad as "Peter the Great") forced to build in style which is called now Петровское барокко and this is kind of shame – there are actually no structures left after him which deserve a second thought, while there are several remarkable structures (churches mainly) in built in russian baroque style.

PS We have a bad tradition of forcing architecture styles which caused a great damage in a future.
1) First known was patriarch Nikon who forced allowed styles for churches. The recovery took about 40 years.
2) Petr I who promoted subpar british and dutch style of architecture. This destroyed architecture schools and the recovery took about 150 years.
3) Stalin who ordered to abandon any work on constructivism and switch into classic-based structures (classicism → empire style → art deco). In the end the constructivism formed the face of all modern architecture and becomes one of the brightest contribution of russian civilization into mankind (others are arc wielding, television, the science of aerodynamics). We haven't recovered yet: slavic people are all anarchists and don't even try to respect others. So customers who order building don't respect designers and order to build utter crap.

composing in 4:3 easier than 3:2

It is not only easier. The squarer format typically has a perception of having more depth. Famous 3D larger format look is basically a consequence of good framing which is far easier with squarer format and good lightning.
3×2 is a uniq format: it is totally useless.
It is not good for panoramic landscapes (16×9, 16×10 or even wider), not good for portrait orientation (5×4, 6×7, 1×1) – even 4×3 is not that good. Still it is much better for portraits than 3×2.

DSLR vs. Mirrorless

Come on, don't be a noob!
Mirrorless AF is far more predictable and covers far larger area. AF speed is good enough nowdays and AF precision easily surpasses the precision of DSLR. Lowlight AF performance surpasses one of DSLR. The shooting process is far more predictable as well: closer approximation to what we will see.

Stupid topic.
If you need versatile reliable camera, then a DSLR cannot be your choice, simply as that.
The question nowdays is system camera vs a phone.

Just bought Samsung S7. Unfortunately, returning this thing back tomorrow: they keep spoiling initally great hardware with crappy software:
1) They have great camera module, which can stand against my overly enthusiastic PP, but changes they did in API broke the google camera panorama modes. And obviously google camera is the best app for taking stitched images, nothing comes close (swipe is a very bad joke).
2) This thing stutters. One "big" core out of 4 in exynos 8890 (international version) alone matches the performance of all cores in snapdragon 800 in nexus 5, not to mention there are 4 another "little" cores. Still, the nexus somehow manages to work smoother (not always faster, but everything is smoother)
3) Etc, it is not a phone forum :)

A couple of images taken with Samsung S7:

16×9 screens and samsung returned to 4×3 sensor in S7 after 16×9 in S6. Because 16×9 is basically useless for photography. Best what you generally can do with this ratio is taking two shots at once (split in PP).

Every modern top tier phone with a camera (HTC 10, Samsung Galax S7, Nokia 950) would be more than enough for most "media presentations".
I am afraid you missed things here: photography is photography. Sometimes you need a photography, not "media presentation". Sometimes you want to see a photo, not a view from a pillbox.
And I am afraid again you are not up to the point where you could understand what I am talking about: your photos are just so boring from the start no framing could improve that. May be ok for the USA though, your compatriots are not known for high quality contribution into culture and it doesn't seem your public demands one.

I am more about shooting experience. The squarer the format, the more composition mistakes are pronounced.
The medium format "feel" is in fact mostly pronounced by squarer frame in comparison to inferior 3×2.

4×3 form factor large sensor would be quite interesting. Definitely no buy in 3×2.
