Happy that I can finally also tell that I received my first jab (of Pfizer) today. Apparently we have been getting a little more vaccines recently since after a looooooooong wait I could within days get the jab either from my work (hospital) or the public health care. Second one after 12 weeks in July.

That should speed things up in mass vaccinations. Not as good as the other vaccines, but not very bad either (66% Effective Overall at Preventing Moderate to Severe COVID-19, 28 Days after Vaccination).

Also what many deniers saying "it is just a flu" and such crap don't realize it's not a binary situation where people either die or recover 100%. There are many long term sequelae caused by this infection, "long covid".

I happened to come by that special price by myself, though it was actually $174.95. That includes the upgrade to C1 21 as was posted here. I was still thinking whether to buy it or not since I just bought an M1 Mac mini and did not want to use Rosetta 2 virtualization permanently. Then I saw that Apple Silicon native support is coming early next year as an update to the C1 21!

Yes, I downloaded a RAW sample from Dpr and opened it with Darktable (Linux). The corners are really black like shaded by a hood. Is the jpeg cropped?
EDIT: Yes, the jpeg seems to be cropped

How I see Ricoh strategy today is that they can't (and perhaps aren't even trying to) attract new users. After all, most of traditional Pentax strengths (like WR, IBIS, compact size) can be today found in other brands. Often in cameras that are in other ways even better or cheaper. So Ricoh is today selling mostly to long time Pentax users, with either a significant investment in K mount lenses or a nostalgic brand loyalty. And because these customers are loyal, the company can charge above the relative value of the cameras.

OK. Thanks everybody. Many good ideas and suggestions. My starting point may seem confusing, because it is! I felt lost in my camera strategy. I’d like to especially thank northcoastgreg because he has been using so similar equipment and his experience helps me understand what to expect with different upgrades. Also helped to hear that significant AF advancement has really happened (in stead of telling me I just can’t do it right).
Actually, I am now thinking I’ll keep using both systems in the long run. I’ll use the E-M5 as long as it works and will get a more modern Pentax body.

AFAIK, asahi man works at a big camera shop in Berlin. So he most likely has more information of coming products and releases than us customers, but no real inside information. That could explain why sometimes his posts contain actual new information, while at other times the information turns out not quite accurate.
