I wonder why is it that Affinity shows three different color channel shapes? if the input image is purely B&W, wouldn't the software split it into three identical channels which can be manipulated individually? Or is it that it assumes the raw data is from a standard K-3 III and does whatever magic it does importing those images?

As one converts a color photograph to B&W, adding or reducing each color component individually affects the end results very much. With different weighing the results can look almost like completely different photographs. How does this work with dedicated monochrome cameras? I assume no weighing (since the sensor gathers no color information) and you're stuck with the actual relative exposure of the image content and can only adjust contrast, black level and such basic stuff?

We drive an SUV (RAV4) and the dog's in the rear compartment behind the back seats. The space is open above the seats (an earlier car of mine before the dog had a metal dog guard above the seats). So I guess this is technically non-restrained.

Happy that I can finally also tell that I received my first jab (of Pfizer) today. Apparently we have been getting a little more vaccines recently since after a looooooooong wait I could within days get the jab either from my work (hospital) or the public health care. Second one after 12 weeks in July.

I used to carry traditional leather wallets with room for coins, cards and notes. They used to wear out in a couple of years and I always had to find one which fits in my front jeans pocket where I like to carry it. A few months ago I decided to let coins go and bought a tiny RFID shielded one with room for cards and notes only. So far it has been very good and I have not really missed having to carry coins. One thing I have thought about is that why (apparently) no DSLR manufacturer has used an on-sensor contrast detect AF to calibrate individual lenses. I assume it would be possible. One of the reasons I have used the last several years mainly my m43 gear and not Pentax is the lackluster accuracy and reliability of the phase detect AF used by Pentax. (I know that many users disagree and I have not used the latest models since K-5 Mk I, so let's not go there).

Vaccinations are slowly progressing in Finland as well. OK, I know we're doing fine in global context, but not compared to US or UK. We're today at like 25% of adults vaccinated at least once. It was only this week that my partner (who is an anesthetist doing aerosol producing procedures such as intubation but usually not treating covid patients) got her first jab of Pfizer. I personally have still not got even the first one since I'm "bubbling under" in all aspects. Not quite old enough, not quite sick enough and not important enough at the hospital. But if the expected vaccine shipments arrive, I assume I'll get the first one in May or June. Still too late to save the summer. Over here - like in the UK - the second jab has been postponed to 12 weeks.

I find this NFT thing interesting, while I still don't understand everything about it. As far as I have understood, the NFT blockchain usually contains a link to the digital item's internet location. But could a checksum-like tech be used instead? The NFT would include an encrypted checksum of the media item, like a full resolution lossless image file. Would that be feasible?

Geez. The camera can be ordered NOW from that Finnish store quoted above and costs 2199 € (incl. 24% VAT)! But Finland is usually more expensive than most bigger EU countries and much more expensive than US. But I'd expect it to cost about 2000 € in other EU countries and some USD 2000 in the US. https://www.topshot.fi/product/17880/pentax-k-3-iii-jarjestelmakamerarunko
Edit: Expected delivery by May 31.
Edit 2: Now price updated to 2099 €.

As has been posted in other threads months ago, a Finnish webstore (Kamerakauppa netissä - Top Shot | Top Shot - Kamerakauppa) has shown the preliminary price of 1999 € (incl. 24% VAT) for a long time. Today I asked them if that is the actual price or just a placeholder. They answered that they have not been told the actual price yet, but it should be pretty much that.

I have seen one case, who was a doctor working at a long term care hospital. There had been more than one hundred confirmed cases at the hospital, both staff and patients. So he'd been exposed, had all the symptoms, had significant and typical covid findings on his chest CT scan - and tested negative THREE times.

As an owner and user of both a K-5 and an E-M5 Mk I I have to disagree in general. I find the contrast detect AF by Olympus very accurate compared to the phase contrast AF by Pentax which is in my experience more a hit and miss system. And in many cases K-5's accurate contrast detect AF can't be used. But of course, I do not own either of the mentioned tele lenses.

May I ask what exactly do you mean? You PP software refuses to work on GFX100s raw files without changing the exif? What do you actually change?

In some countries there may be too much red tape and in some people don't want to take the AstraZeneca due to the initial worse expected results, especially for people over 65-70. But in many EU countries almost every single dose received has been used. They just aren't available. EU has really dropped the ball in this game. The 450 Million people economy is waiting in line to see if we can get some vaccines after everybody in the US and UK have received theirs.

Just ONE person in my family or extended family has been vaccinated so far, a 70+ person in the UK. Even a 75+ person with cancer in Finland is getting the first shot two weeks from now. What a mess it is over here.

That should speed things up in mass vaccinations. Not as good as the other vaccines, but not very bad either (66% Effective Overall at Preventing Moderate to Severe COVID-19, 28 Days after Vaccination).

Well, at least UK is A) getting and B) delivering the vaccines. EU isn't getting anywhere regarding the vaccines. First Pfizer, then AstraZeneca are reporting significant delays in vaccine supply. And there seem to be significant delays in use of the few vaccines the individual countries have got. I personally work partly with immunocompromized cancer patients and the odds are that I'll get covid before a vaccine the way things are going.

Thanks, UncleVanya. However, while AF speed or accuracy aren't a priority in landscape photography, I'm still hesitant with newer Pentaxes as my experience with the AF of older models has been lackluster. But let's not get deeper into this. Also, the availability of K-1 Mk II seems to be close to zero over here since last summer.

My main interest is landscape. So I assume I might (or will) get one of the "r" models. Probably not the latest and most expensive one. A7 r II is getting out of the loop, so maybe r III?
