mhsp1948, do not get disgouraged. Post some of your photos into the Critique area on this site one at a time. There are quite a few wonderful members of this site that will offer helpful and constructive suggestions and input on how you can improve the image or how you could have taken a better photo of that scene. This will help you to improve your skills both taking photos and in post processing your images. PEG will be here for a very long time. After you have run several of your photos through the Critique area and learned from that process, visit the PEG and take a good hard and long look at photos of the style that you lean towards to see what has qualified to be in PEG. Then go take some photos and process them using what you have learned and submit one or two. I would not recommend submitting several photos but rather submit one or two photos to see how they are received by the judges. This will not be an overnight process getting your work closer to or possibly over the bar, but it will hopefully be an enjoyable journey while you learn and improve your work.

Is there any way to link the Canon site to this one so if a member here also uses Canon gear, they will not have to re-authenticate on the Canon site? The Canon site seems plagged by the same problem as this and other sites, namely crappy email verification. The site claims to send the email that must be received in order to click on the link to verify the user's account but the email is not actually sent then (or at all)!!

The email you received stated your submittal was rejected for one of two reasons; it was either not within the size requirements OR it did not contain any camera information. Given what you have stated about the photos size, I am guessing your submittal was rejected due to the missing camera information or EXIF data. That is the EXIF data that is digital data embedded in the photo's data that identifies the camera used, the lens, camera settings, date/time, etc. about the photo. It is captured and saved when the photo is taken. If the photo you submitted was a scanned image of a film photo, then there would not be any EXIF data in the image.

I'm pretty sure that the judges do not know who submitted a photo as a PEG candidate.

I would have liked to see the colors more fully "fill" the glass instead of being confined to the two sides.

Flawed site script files? Either the script files have some flaws / holes in them, or there is some Admin "assistance" being provided... What is needed is for more members to come forward if one of their photos is "submitted" without them actually taking any action.

This is the Photo Critique area where we are to be discussing user submitted photos, not something from youTube or some other off-site discussion.

It also might help their chances significantly to upload the photos into the Photo Critique area and let the other members give their comments and recommendations on how you can improve your photo prior to submitting it for possible inclusion into PEG. Just a thought from the fence...

Your copyright notice should be positioned in either the lower right or lower left corners. And the model's name would normally not be part of the image. Copyright notices that are unobtrusive will be much less distracting to the viewer. You do not want their eyes zooming to your copyright notice but rather to the model.

Is the Tiffany & Co sign really leaning way over like it appears to be in the photo? I doubt if the building behind the sign is leaning so severely in actuality. Palm trees can lean but buildings generally do not.

I don't even want to think about how many rolls of Tri-X B&W film that I went thru before getting into doing my own bulk loading. I'd venture to say that most of us that have been into photography long enough probably cut our "photography teeth" in B&W. Color was too expensive and too unforgiving for a home darkroom.

I may just take some of my RAW photos and see how they look in B&W.... Could be interesting.

Susan, For what it's worth, I like the image a lot! I question whether the 0.2 degree rotation would really matter in the big scheme of things. After all, we do not live on a flat planet but rather a round one. You might want to resubmit it hoping to get different judges.

The photo (or photos) are supposed to appear within the post itself. Calling what you are presenting a "project" (or some other name) does not absolve you from following the rules for this area. The rules have to apply to everyone equally and we can not exempt ourselves just because we do not feel like following them.

I kept going back to the middle photo and thinking that I would really like that as the wallpaper on my computer monitors. The 1st and 3rd photos didn't seem to work for me because of the large white-ish flower/plant?? The images are new and unique...and seem to hold the attention. I kept asking myself were they taken from above or beneath the ice. But there's something about the middle photo that kept pulling me back to it while I was trying to admire the other two. Maybe it's the more pronounced colors and the less busy appearance. More simple. And I think if you follow the good Dr. Orloff's suggestions about the middle image, you'll detract from it too much. My finger is getting tired from scrolling back up to look at it from way down here.....

Out of curiosity, did you mention anything in the comments you can post with your submittal about the rain streaks being rain streaks? I don't know if the judges read the comments we leave or not, but I would think something like what you mentioned here would have been read and noted.
