I wasn't sure how this beach shot would work out with the K10D. I did a bit of post processing.

I recently rebooted my Pentax obsession. I purchased a K10D with a batch of lenses. The camera looked in mint condition.
When I checked there were only 1400 shutter actuations, so like brand new. I have been familiarisng myself with it and its limitations over past few days.
I acquired a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro Lens with the camera, really not expecting much from it. I found it works fine on the K10D.
The Sigma 18-50mm 1:3.5-5.6 DC I also acquired certainly has a few limitations.
Here is a photo I took with the 18-50 mm. No sharpening, so seems pretty soft but kind of refreshing that its not perfect. I have been using Nikon crop cameras for the past 10 years so am
enjoying learning the K10D which is new to me. As many have commented, built to last. The battery has lasted for days. Cheers from Sydney Australia.

Repair costs including adjustment are certainly more than $50 per lens. I think I will probably abandon the idea and search for clean examples. Thanks for the rapid replies.

Hi - I foolishly sold my K mount 50 mm lenses. Now I have the urge to get another SMC 50 mm 1.7 A series (or earlier) lens. I live in Australia so please consider posting to Aus if you have a spare in good clean condition.

I am sure this has been covered many times before but I have a question about fungus in lenses. I have acquired from my father a SMC 55 1.8 , a SMC M - 28 3.5 and a Takumar Bayonet 135 2.5. All are riddled with fungus on more than one element it seems. All lenses have been last used over twenty years ago and even then they were used about twenty times all up.
I do not think the fungus looks as bad as some of the examples I have seen on the forum, but it is spidery although not particularly thick. I am not sure about damage to lens coatings.
I live in Australia so repair costs sometimes are prohibitive. However I am wondering should I sell them as is, or get them cleaned? The prices of some of these items is going sky high thus the need for this posting.
I have a couple of Pentax film bodies so they would likely get some use when I get the urge to shoot some film if I bothered to get them cleaned.

Me Super still available. Camera looks a little rough on the front but it has rarely been used. It was stored with a batch of other cameras. Still works perfectly. Meter and shutter good. Plastic protection still attached to base plate.

Shots from China with an old Olympus Stylus after my DSLR's battery went flat. Taken in Beijing Summer Palace. I was happier with these than the hundreds I took with my DSLR.

Pentax lens SMC -M 50 mm 1: 1.4 $80 Item Location
Sydney Australia Item Description
This camera has a murky finder. I think there is some old camera seal gunk on the screen. Does not affect its function. The camera meters fine, shutter good. Good camera. Missing black cover cap on film rewind. The camera works very well.
The lens is very clean - just a few dust specks as is usual for lenses of this age. No fungus. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Hi
These cameras are so plentiful it is often easier to just buy a new (used) one. I learned this the hard way. I stopped messing with broken cameras and became better at picking used ones. I got my best ME Super for free but my less cosmetically appealing one I bought on ebay cheap. Both work fine although they both look a little rough. My advice -- start looking and you might find one. People are off loading more of these cameras everyday,.

Hi all
I am a long term amateur 35mm Pentax K mount user. I have three old Pentax SLr's two Me Super and one KM ( needs repair). I also use some OM Olympus cameras and lenses I inherited.
I have a Nikon D40 as well but on a recent trip to China got more satisfying results from film. I live in Sydney Australia. That is about it for the moment.
Neil.
