Flash made within the past 5-10 years should be fine.Up to 20 volts trigger, should not harm todays new DSLR.Use a volt meter to check ground and main hot shoe contacts, with flash turned on.I use an old Minolta auto flash from the early 80s on my K10,20D,K7,K5.As old as the Minolta is the trigger is only 6 volts.
I have always wondered why Pentax never gives the safe trigger voltage in its specs sheets ?

Others have seen similar gains in the high ISO ranges.I'm not a speed shooter,so not my main reason to update, there are also other general improvements in new releases, some mentioned others not.

I manage 25 Raw DNG @ ISO 80.I used a SandDisk Extreme 8gig 20MB/s card,average shutter speed 1/80s.Not bad and a positive trend from Pentax/Hoya.:D

Never had the issue with my K7.I did a set up and tried at the various shutter speed and could not see a problem. So could be isolated cases. My advice get the K5,if there was an issue, you bet the engineers licked it.
I got my K5 yesterday,......JOY !!!! ....

Thanks.
The lens was stopped down to F8.The image was cropped down to 2 mega pixels,K7 @ ISO 400,1/250s,hand held.I really did not spend much time to tweak in PP.I have come to appreciate the moment of the capture more these days.

Has anyone contacted Pentax regarding this issue. Will others with K5 and the 360 run some test. These bugs are normal in early runs of new models, and bet will be fixed with other yet to be discovered bugs.

Seems native,at least looking at the graphs at DxO.I'm no expert, but you will get your answer pretty soon from the experts here.

If your photo is scaled properly,it will definitely hit the lens.

I have to agree, happens to me sometimes. With a piece of tool like the K5 life has changed immensely.Question, when the word gets out will Pentax be able to cope with the demand ? :(

One never knows when so called seals will fail.I have never trusted them,so as a precaution i have taken a plastic bag with me when the weather is unstable.Weather seals should be relied upon only as backup.

I find not having pixel mapping in any DSLR a bit backward thinking. All sensors will develop hot/stuck/dark pixels with time.My K10D had 3 such defective pixels when i first got it.The K10D did not have pixel mapping, but was a non issue as i shot only raw.My K20D/K7 had a few initially, but were easily mapped out in camera.
Those who shoot jpeg only should not be at a disadvantage with K5, easily mapped out in camera.no need to cart your camera off for this to be done. This is another great seldom mentioned feature that even the entry model Pentax boast.

My thoughts, and seems rather possible, and why did they did not extend it to ISO 50.Reserved for the K3,you bet.

Prices will hold for longer, due to demand, which will be higher for this camera than any previous Pentax model. Those who can afford a $1600 camera with on par FF performance might as well pull the trigger.

For those who believe in DXO scores this is amazing indeed,no matter how you look at it.Sir Gordon, you were spot on with the dynamic range.Pentax has a formula to extract optimum results from the new Sony sensors that seem to be a feather in their cap.Serves well for the brand, and future sales. The price is justified it would seem.

There is a special technique i use to remove form K7,will also apply to K5.While pressing down on the spring, allow the card to slip by your fingers, using the momentum from the spring to push the card further up the slot, easily removed by thumb and forefinger. I can now remove the card faster than my easy K20D.Just practice the method. With time the slot will wear a bit making things easier.
