Pentax is offering the Pixel Shift even on K1?
Well done Pentax/Ricoh! A breathtaking color and contrast using PS in the still image of the flowers - it reminds me the magic of the Sigma Foveon!

Marketing magic number - 35 and who coined the term FF? As you would not like to have anything that is half-empty to begin with, yet "cropped"...
How about Choke-Full Fat Frame (CFFF) 645Z? Would that make me take good pictures? I doubt it, unfortunately.

Pro's are a degenerate cast of people who incessantly try to charge money for a bunch of lousy fat wedding photos. Most of them fall for clichés and take pride in apointments for insipid commercials, but hate photography as photography hates them.
They also shoot indiscriminately at everything in continuous mode without making sense who are the good and the bad guys. An army of Canikon militants, why would you like to share camera with them?

If Ricoh plans to combine 4 sub-pixels into one pixel it would mean there are 80+ MP sensors on the horizon. Why not, my 4 year old Nokia pv808 has 41MP in a smallish smart phone sized sensor, it also employs special algorithm to combine few pixels into one bigger pixel to obtain more accurate colours. Let me tell you - it works! So I am personally convinced this is the future of the digital photography and I think at that point there will be a clear split between artistic 100+MP and sports/journalist photography - 20MP in terms of technologies involved and processing algorithms.
Pentax 645 is already good for landscape and portraiture (art) so if Ricoh stays in the same segment and it can reposition itself in the market by employing this new sensor in the new camera models. I think that ill be great, actually I suspected Ricoh will do exactly that and even exchanged private messages with some members suggesting something like that will happen, so I take it as a confirmation. And there lies probably the silver lining :)

Pentax cannot give us a better Canon nor a better Sony. Actually the 5D Mark IV and the Nikon D5 are on their way and Sony is preparing 7 new lenses for 2016. The K1 will be born dead and will probably not even make it in the news or the press releases. So please stop the wishful thinking.
BTW - that is why Ricoh made the right choice and *finally* filed a patent for a new hybrid sensor:

I also think the price doesn't matter. For different reason though. I would expect the K1 to arrive late by a few months and a few months later it will be discontinued.
And I hope I am not right.

Yes, full disclosure - I am Pentax fan and pentaxforums site supporter :) Owner about every camera from Pentax :) and still do most. Don't know about Canon and Nikon - never owned one, I am not a professional.
Currently use my film Z1 and Sigma Dp2m with Samsung Nx500 for the video.

My message to Pentax: Stop the self-humiliating FF failure before it has actually materialized!
Two wrongs don't make one right.Think rationally for a second!
Pentax will loose all credibility and become a laughing stock for coming up in 2016 with an already outdated DSLR, awkwardly designed, low-performing and high-priced, "mee-too" camera which will completely miss the point.
Drop the K1 model and all this FF nonsense and create something distinctive, remarkable and daring. Ricoh is a company capable of making a difference. Fire the managers who gave that stupid idea now and hire people that do their job with a passion! Make another hit like the Ricoh GR or the superb old-timer Pentax Z1 which is my Pentax FF camera of choice.

Sony A7 has been around for years. Costs 800. Does all.
Samsung Nx500 does 4k. Nice kit lens included. Costs 500.
Panasonic fz1000 does 4k, features Leica lens and all you would need. And more. Costs 600.
Sigma Dp2m has all the IQ and costs 400.
Fuji Xt10 has the looks and the mojo and costs 750.
Given the situation easy to foresee the complete and utter success the K1 is going to be in 2016 priced at $2000!

Same problem here. Everytime I get a firmware I am supposed to test all the camera features???
The worrs I cannot downgrade!!! And so I cannot even prove it.
WHY IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO DOWNGRADE!!!!????
