I apologize to all the great people that answered, I have been unavoidably detained for some time and this thread completely slipped my mind.
As to all the responses, I also plan to keep my kit lens in the bag and use it in such occasions that demand a wider angle. I was just planning on getting another lens that would be appropriate for "most" shooting scenes.
Another question has formed while searching the forums, and online. Is there an appreciable difference in a Sigma copy versus a Tamron? In terms of quality and durability. I already assume the IQ will be virtually the same for a "super zoom"
Thanks again for all the quick knowledgeable responses and please excuse my absence.

I have been looking through this forum since I bought my k-x last summer and have been amazed with the quality of information on here. You guys/gals were the leading reason I bought a pentax in the first place. I haven't added anything because I could be the least qualified person on the planet to give advice. :D
I have my first question.
I seem to have found the limits of what the kit lens can provide. I seem to want more and more reach for everyday shooting. When I say everyday, I mean family activities, zoo outings, travel etc. NOT I repeat NOT trying to take pictures like the Hubble telescope can.
I am looking for an everyday lens with some reach. This lens here is just what I wanted and at the price I think is more than reasonable.
Any advice, opinions, or concerns are welcome on said lens. Thanks in advance!! AF061P700 Tamron AF 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di Aspherical (IF) Wide Angle-Telephoto Auto Focus Zoom Lens with Hood for Pentax AF - USA with 6 Year Warranty Tamron -28-300mm F/3.5-6.3(Model A061) |
